Aw hello boult. :) congrats on your new house and I'm thrilled it's brought you back.

I agree about using summer clothing as undergarments but I'm feeling the cold more with medications so I'm posed to act and get thermals if a cotton layer isn't enough.

My DH has has his first meddle with the boiler. It's running again but it's running out of time. It's very nearly 19 years old so it's definately on borrowed time.

I discovered men's thermals when I worked in a warehouse for a while where they were issued to all staff. Much warmer than the ladies pretty ones! I've also bought myself a long sleeved black one which will look ok under open necked jumpers for the really cold weather ;) (A bit long in the sleeves but not really a problem :) (Our local markets seem to sell them cheaply all year round! :) )

I wish the factory I use to work at thought to give out thermal's, the longer sleeve's get folded over to start with but then I think stuff it and have them sneaking down my hand so I can tuck my fingers in, OH is starting to do same as his dad and losing glove's.
So must find the glove pattern out and get knitting again.

  • Boiler was serviced today so we've had the heating on all afternoon to toast the house up! I drained the air out of the rads last night - turns out there was a LOT of air in them, so engineer is concerned there's a leaking pipe somewhere. Will be keeping a close eye out for dripping ceilings etc.

Don't know if it's because we let the heating stay on until it switched itself, or if the new windows are helping, but upstairs is still surprisingly toasty!

VH has engineer told you to keep an eye on pressure on the boiler dial.? Watch out for falling pressure, also caused by air removal

what to do on long winter nights? I need to stop nodding off if I get bored, I generally CBA watching tv. I cannot for the life of me get myself engrossed in a book these days, don`t know why. How do I keep myself awake to bedtime? Its the most difficult change tbh from the light evenings when I could just potter outside
