Preparing for Winter V

Has anyone seen a long term forecast for this winter yet? I've been looking at the Weather without Technology chap who seems surprisingly accurate so far - wet autumn but a calm spell round about 4 November. But he hasn't published his seasonal forecast yet.
This autumn has been miserable here in the South East. Wet and gloomy and occasionally windy as well. Not many nice clear days and it hasn't had that lovely autumny smell
I'm retired now so snow doesn't hold the same horrors for me now I don't have to get to work. But somehow, whenever we do have snow there is always something which means I have to leave the house which is a bit worrying now I have fragile bones. But I still love itIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

I saw him being interviewed on tv in July and he seemed to suggest really bad weather but not till January. Think he made comments that "beast from the east" would be nothing compared to early next year.
I have just checked his site again and his latest comments were that areas that usually got snow would get snow before Christmas.
He will do the winter forecast after the 11th of November as he won't have the information he needs till then."This site is addictive!"

I do like snow but I'm glad we have two weeks somewhere warm in January - although it would be just our luck if flights are grounded for bad weatherIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Would you share who the chap without technology is. I'm intrigued. I try to follow the charts and models and the chatter about them but the truth is I'm clueless.0

Fuddle I can't remember how to do a link on here but the site is called "David King's Weather Without Technology". He sounds such a nice man

Edit: *Not that that has any bearing on the accuracy or otherwise of his forecasts, obviously0 -
Lovely, thank you Ivyleaf. I'll go have a look.0

I've got a head start on being cold, my bus didn't turn up when it should have and I spent a very chilly hour in the bus depot sitting beside a single glazed window in an unheated space.....still cold now and contemplating a hot water bottle to snuggle up to!0

That chap is just lovely. Thank you all for mentioning it. He's bookmarked, lucky chap.
This is the first winter where I'll be using public transport a lot and quite unnerved about that very fact MrsL. I'm feeling the cold more and more (bedsocks on last night and it's not even winter!) and going to have to get the balance right between prepping for stuck out in the cold and not sweating (and subsequently feeling cold as well) from being too hot.0 -
The Scots weather guys are saying bad winter looks possible after January. They all fit winter tyres and then pray for heavy snow so they can go out and play in it
:D

Bit of wishful thinking? Or are they basing it on an actual forecast?
I bought a winter coat in M&S this week. I knew when it said wool blend that it would have some artificial fibre in it but I thought "wool blend" meant it had to be over 50% wool
Nope, 10% wool would you believe? 80% polyester and the remaining 10% acrylic Trouble is, I like the style and it feels as if it should be warm. I just hope it doesn't feel clammy if the weather is warmIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
