We built a bedroom over our garage a few years ago and it means our room gets so cold as the garage door allows cold air through. I am saving up to be able to put a false ceiling with more insulation up next winter, unfortunately funds are too tight this winter.

Blinds have been put up in a couple of windows to stop the heat going straight out and I have got DH to put a blind up in the Velux window in our room as I can only imagine the heat escape through the glass!

We had a room like that in the 70s, absolutely stone cold freezing, we used to go to bed with hats on. We pulled the carpet up and put lots of cardboard down underneath. It helped a lot, we were too broke for anything else

Draw around the bottle for a pattern but leave a good margin for sewing the seams. You can make it straight up ie a rectangle. You will need to pad the fabric with something, fleece, wadding, old jumper or some such. Sew a bit of wide tape around the outside up above where the neck narrows, leave the two tape ends open. Make a cord and feed through. Then pull the cord to tie the bottle in.

That should give you a simple sewn bottle cover. Would be good for christmas presents I think

    Many thanks as always xx:T

    Hello Thriftkitten
The pattern I had was on a calendar from a Christmas mag last year.
It is cable front and back so not for a beginner.

You could try Ravely online for a free pattern or just knit a large square with a rib top for the bottle neck.

    Many thanks as always xx:T

The weather forecast on the BBC have been predicting very strong winds in a low pressure system that is coming in from the Atlantic since Saturday night, it is impossible to miss it if you watch the weather forecast on TV!!! Fuddles information doesn't necessarily have to have come from a previous post, she might know someone who watches the weather as a hobby? I've been aware of this potential bad weather purely because the TV has had it flagged up since the weekend.

If you look at Crochet Teapots post 169 made at 1.46 yesterday afternoon there is a warning of possible gale force winds from her.

So why share it here then FD? Do you just like looking for controversy/being angry/upsetting the applecart?

I think most of us on this thread are well aware of the sensationalist tabloid headlines and generally ignore them.

Blizzard conditions, which is highly likely in many parts of the country and what the original heads up was suggesting, need strong winds to form. Just because where I live isn't looking likely to produce snow, it doesn't mean we're exempt from strong winds and driving rain.
