I get bags of smokeless coal in home bargain and nipped down today and a guy before me filled his trolley with 5 sacks. Have to say where we are we seem to miss everything so rarely get snow its something to do with the Welsh hills in front and the peninines behind but it iw brass monkeys. Just rang the guide leader who uses the hall after us rainbows to say the heating had packed up and could she sort. Touched the radiator on the way out and it is boiling it just isn't warming the space at all. Pjs on fleecey blanket and in front of fire.0

For those with littlies, this idea may come in useful.
Winter vomiting bugs are almost inevitable this time of year so I have put small buckets (the larger beach toy type ones) under their beds so they are easy to grab in an emergency!
There is nothing worse than scraping pillows, duvets and carpets of vomit and changing beds in the middle of the night, esp if you have it yourself!
Plus, keeping a couple of the microwaveable rice pouches for when you cannot stomach anything but need to eat. A few portions of good home made chicken soup in the freezer for such times, a blessing also!0 -
Well I'm going to talk about the weather! Just looked out and my car is icing up already!
And since I'm preparing for..... morning (;)) I've got the de-icer out of the boot as my hatch has a tendency to freeze shut and I couldn't open the door this morning!I leave the house at 6am on Tuesdays.
I'd say chill out everyone but I think we're chilly enoughBossymoo

I bought some of these reflective radiator panels about 10 years ago. I have moved house 5 times since and have not been able to fit them anywhere.
I have found all radiators are below the windowsill thus there is no way of fitting them.
If your radiators are not on an outside wall then the serve no purpose.0 -

Lol
I have actually had this at the end of last week, more sitting on the loo rather than head down it though!!! Well bed...toilet...bed...toilet....etc!!
Felt dreadful, just ate about 6 dry crackers in 2 days and gallons of water, was better by the 3rd day, but felt so weak
Luckily I'd done my preps and DH just defrosted a chilli for himself from the stash I'd made some time ago.
The one and only good thing was I'm sure I lost a few pounds!
No ice/frost here, but windy, and OMG cold.
On Tuesday's I work in a usually cold place, so I've already got my thermals ready for under my clothes with extra layers for the top ready, and finger-less gloves-may need these as I can also write with them on.
I am fine as long as my feet are warm, the the bit of my back between trousers and top-my thermal vest comes down past my bum!! So with that tucked in there will be no gap.
I also have a dark pure new wool scarf picked up at a CS which I use only on Tuesday's-as it's also a dirty place!!
Wednesday is looking bad, I have a 1/2 day (from another job) and am helping my friend on a charity stall at a Winter Fair....outside.....should be fun:rotfl::j0 -

Felt much colder this morning & had to give the car a good scrape before heading off to work. Couldn't even open the back door to put my bag in had to put it in the boot! Some nasty weather forecast for wednesday, will keep an eye on that but not on any long day's this week so should be home with the heating on by 6 everyday.
....
Mine was all right this morning though it had been frosted before I came out but the early morning sunshine had melted most of it away. My back doors seize up too when the car is frosted, and you reminded me I wanted to find out how to stop them freezing up. Apparently silicone spray is the best thing to use as it doesn't perish the seal. Of course, being a good old style girl, silicone furniture spray is something I don't have in the houseso will have to get something next time I'm out and about. Or ask DS1 to get me some.
