See there has been a few troutings recently
Put yourself in sa shoes someone turns up with a voucher having spent £12 and have a £13 voucher from it would you not think it was dodgy;)
Especially if others have been using fake ones in their store and no doubt all be warned about accepting them from their managers
They are only doing a job folks
If you go over £9.99 we all know they need to be input manually therefore making an already nervous sa even more waryCorrect, above £9.99 the value cannot be encoded into the apg barcode so they have to manually enter it.
Thick tweets here I use small apg's in my A's never over £2:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:but I always have to have them authorised by staff and they check receipt with apg .
Do you both mean unless apg over £9-99 it shouldn't have to be checked by staff ?0 -
Correct, above £9.99 the value cannot be encoded into the apg barcode so they have to manually enter it.
I did think that - and still do - and indeed I've said it above, although I had one SA once who scanned a £10+ voucher - it didn't take any amount (as expected), then I blurted out that they just needed to enter the amount:o:o (would have been better if I had kept my mouth shut but never mind), they said they had had one before over £10 and that it did scan without them having to enter the amount, so that it should have scanned in. They did enter it after that point though and then it worked that way, but they wondered why they had to.
Despite this, I don't think the vouchers of £10 or more scan without SA entry of the amount - how could they? the b/cs don't contain the amount but have 999 because the industry standard only allows them three digits - so, despite that SA saying they'd had a plus £10 one before and that it didn't require them to enter an amount, I think they are just wrong and that £10+ does require the entry of the amount as I've long understood. "Normal" people extremely often get their facts wrong and don't have a perfect recollection of anything like this that happened previously in their working time:rotfl:.0 -

apologies, I've edited my post now.. I think it was when you asked for cosmetics matching certain barcodes that led me to that conclusion.
Unless you're pulling my leg that is :rotfl:, there is a fair amount of innuendo in your post :T#CHEEKY :cool:0 -
I have never created an apg of over £10 myself.I have found quite a few wombes over £10 and only been trouted once on the womble for over £36.This was a genuine comparison so I wasn't worried at all:rotfl:.I try to keep my apgs under £8 and find this is better. The most I use at one time is 3.i find it's safer to mix a bit of proper shopping in with glitchy shops.Maybe I'm too careful.
I didn't do the pringles
It works so why change it;)

No - if less than £9.99 it still needs authorising too on SS or main tills, but if over £9.98 they have to physically enter the amount too, which means they are looking at the voucher/receipt a little longer and gives them more time to see what you bought/how much you spent and then start questioning.

Just to add - from the comments above £9.98 seems to be the max that will scan through as £9.99 prompts the price prompt if I have understood correctly.
[...]
Ah. That does make sense, as a £9.99 one would presumably have the same barcode - with "999" in it - as any of £10.00 or over. I've never had an exact £9.99 one before though so I've no idea:rotfl::rotfl:.
Therefore:
Change my own understanding. It's now £9.99 and over, not £10.00 and over contrary to what I previously understood.
Many thanks for that oh so minor, but crucially important:D (okay maybe not), detail:T. At least if I do get a £9.99, I won't now be taken aback slightly that it gives a prompt for the amount.:)
EDIT: There's no sarcasm in this post, intended or otherwise, btw. It may indeed be quite important, even if seemingly minor, as I've now aware of the possible delay to using a £9.99 voucher. Although, for most purposes, probably not important at all.0 -

In 1 local store they are calling over a supervisor for any apg over £3 due to fake apg's:o
