Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 25th July 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning all - looks like I beat all the insomniacs and early risers - have gotten up early to listen to Jude the Obscure on BBC7 - oh dear - turned on the radio just as the children were hanged - very sad.
Have a lovely day all and hope the dry weather that I've woken up to spreads to those suffering from the floods

Morning Stef
Been awake since 4 am, but decided I would get more paperwork sorted if I left the pc switched off for a while IYKWIM :rotfl: :rotfl:
Jackie0 I think it was you wanting the weather forecast for Torquay, here is the url for Yahoo and you can then click on the extended and get the 10 day (if you can bear it) You can change location on this page.
http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/UKXX0150.html
Wading through my paper mountain I found a bit of paper with this url on
http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/what_can_i_do_today/energy_saving_grants_and_offers?sec=1
It tells you if there are any grants to make your house more efficient fuel wise, could help some of you.
Yesterday didnt end up as planned (so what is new) we decided that as DS was taking our old car with him to Cheltenham while we are on holiday he probably needed the Sat Nav (our old one) so we treat ourselves to a new Tom Tom One XL Europe   , but as we have two long trips to the continent before the end of the year thought it well worth while. So ordered it from Comet on a online/collect best price we could find but Doncaster had none in so it was Pontefract, and as we were half way down the M62, we could carry on to Ikea, for a pair of non-stick tongs.Well that killed the afternoon, and playing with the new toy (me) an other hour, especially as we have to link it the PC!;)
Today is return a toy to TKMaxx (our GNephew's Mum had bought him the same toy!) He had enough toys so I will get him some clothes in a while as I had got him some for his birthday anyway, get the replacement gas bottle, try to sneak in Boots without DH, and maybe a Aldi visit on the way home. Pack for Spain and put some dry food stuff in the 'van ready for the next trip. Give the house a lick and a promise (DS will be here for a week after we have gone:eek:  ) and make sure there is enough to feed him, together with his GF later in the week.
Have a great day (((((((((hugs))))))))))) all round, stay strong Scuzz and Annie.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning STEFIJIB and DONNY-GAL and all who follow. I've been up early - DH is off to France to do some work on the house and he's leaving on the early morning ferry. Spent most of yesterday getting everything organised for him. He's taking a trailer-load of stuff including two lovely 2-seater sofas that someone has given to us and various other bits and pieces. We are in the process of selling off a field that came with the house which should complete next week. If it does, then DH will stay in France for about four weeks and I will fly out for the last week but, if it doesn't complete then he'll have to come home early because he won't have enough money to last!
I have loads planned for while he's away, the first one being to reorganise my office now that my new desk and comfy posh chair have been asembled. I'll go to Curves this morning because I didn't have time yesterday and I found I mssed going.
I haven't thought about dinner tonight - everything's been focused on DH's packing - and, as it's only me, I might just have an easy omelette!
Well, I'm off now - I need a shower before getting DH up so will catch up with you all later. Hope everyone has a great day and (((hugs))) to all those having to go without water and power.

Good Morning Stef, Mioliere & Donnygal :hello: and all those who follow
Well I have woken up early today and can not get back to sleep. I have just checked the 10 day forcast for where we are going camping for the next 2 weeks and guess what..... its mainly rainwhen will it end. I have upstairs to get cleaned through today and about an hours ironing as I like to leave the house clean for when we get back - need to cut the grass too but my garden is flooded. I think we are setting off tomorrow afternoon so I will just pack everything into the car tomorrow.
I finished reading My Sisters Keeper yesterday - brilliant book, I think I started crying within 3 chaptersI have also got The Pact by Jodi Piquot, 2 Harry Potter books and 2 others recommended by Judy & Richard so that should keep me going - for the first week at least :rotfl:
Have a lovely day everybody and (((HUGS))) to those who want or need one

Good morning everyone,
Jackie O, will be thinking of you today.
Penny-Pincher, glad to hear that dd had a great time and is home safe and sound.
anniestar, I hope things are getting a bit better for you.
scuzz, it's good to read that you are feeling more positive.
Like oops a daisy, I have wakened early and can't get back to sleep. Why does that only happen when we don't have to get up? Yesterday morning we had our team meeting and I had to to drag myself out of bed! I don't mind too much this morning though as the sky is blue and the sun is shining already! With the weather the way it is it could well be snowing by lunchtime so I may as well enjoy it while it lasts.
Nothing much planned for today...dd is working in her summer job so at least that's one less person to leave a trail of devastation in the kitchen, ds1 is going to the cinema then having a friend for a sleepover, ds2 is coming with me to Homestart later because I'm afraid to let him out of my sight at the moment. I'm working this evening so need to get dinner planned early...if it stays nice I'll make a chicken and ham salad.
Off to have a poke in the freezer then I'll take my coffee into the garden to look at my plants and watch the birds before the rest of the house wakens up.
Take care,
Pink0 -

stefDesperately sad book.
I'm back on Harry Potter, reading them all from the start again. Pure escapism. I absolutely love them and just can't help but get caught up in the magic of it all.
Have a good day all.

Hello everybody,
My day hasn't really gone to plan. Slept in and then when I was downstairs doing brekky dishes and still in pj's we had visitors.  Being butterless I didn't bake yesterday so had to give them stale sao's and vegemite for smoko. No butter on them either.
Bet they will be beating the door down to come and visit again soon.
After they left I mowed. DH had to go to the dentist this arv. Strict instructions to get butter of course. Off to plant some basil and chives after this.
JackieO I hope all goes well today.
N9eav Beautiful weather here.
Pink Enjoy your poke in the freezer.
Have a great day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Bore Da!
A very good morning to all in front, those typing at the moment and all who follow.
thought I was not going to make it this morning, computer is very slow anyway but would not log on to the internet. Made it!
a lovely wet morning again, great!
Had friends around last night for an OS potluck evening meal. As one is veggie, 1 is diabetic and 2 have high BP I made a pasta bake using very low fat fromage frais, egg and natural yoghurt as the 'sauce', flavoured with garlic and oregano. Mixed in veg and mushrooms and put the meat as a side dish. Then 2 Lidl melons with Tesco frozen berries (I use the smoothie mix as it is 100% fruit). OM will take the left-overs to work today. Freezer/ fridge still quite full.
Inspired by all the Fly-ladies I have started clearing the bedroom and was able to fill a box for E-bay and give mum a bag for the charity shop she helps in. My desk next!
Mum has great plans for her angel tree. It will be for a Christmas display with one of her clubs, and she wants to base it on a carol. I have some items to find like starry fabric and angel hair... I have them somewhere!
Also I have to get under the attic eaves where there are at least 9 Christmas trees, a reminder of the time DD and I went to Wilkinsons 75% off sale and came back with a small forest! Can you have too many Xmas trees?
4 more sleeps to Luxor!
Take care and try to have fun everybody!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
very damp outside, must have been raining very hard overnight.
off to work shortly. so tired - this jetlag is killing me. the rest of the family never get it. I always suffer, although it's not as bad as last time.
thinking about everyone still flooded out, and those with health worries.x x x0 -
Morning all
Guess what, got up, looked out the window and the sun is shining, the birds are singing and summer has arrived :T :T Not really, it,s wet and miserable again, but I am so sick of saying it's raining, thought I would have a change this morning
Went into work yesterday and had psyched myself up to do battle with those dreaded mice, and never saw one all day. Apparently they only come inside when it rains, and it was actually dry yesterday
Definitely an Ebay listing day today, whatever did we do with all our junk, sorry, collectables, before Ebay existed.
:grouphug: to anyone needing one, especially JackieOYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
