Nice to see you back and posting again, Emz. Sounds as if the break from work has done you a power of good :j
Aaaaw to the cute degus. Never had any pets other than cats (except for a rabbit when I was a child) and I've heard others say degus are cute and lovable. Wouldn't dare risk introducing anything that small into this house with my killer-cat in residence:eek:
Well done on the debt-busting:beer:
Can I just ask you a quick question please? I've been decluttering (when am I never?:o) and discovered £20 of M&S vouchers in an envelope. Must have had them for a few years(survey rewards) and as I never go to M&S (nearest is 18 miles away) they've lain unused. The design looks the same as the ones I see advertised still, they don't seem to have updated the design for years, and there is no expiry date on them. Are M&S likely to honour them if I bite the bullet and go to their nearest store to spend them? Don't want a wasted journey as am a bit low on petrol and don't want to fill up yet (cash-flow problems as usual:o).0 -

Hi CBC
I know that the gift cards run out after a couple of years (if they haven't been used in that time). It depends on if the till accepts the vouchers or not. It might say that they've expired, however I don't believe that the paper ones have an expiry date.
I can check with someone at work today and get back to you later.

Hi CBC
I spoke to my manager and she said as far as she's aware, the paper vouchers don't expire.
If you didn't want to spend them, could you try selling them on eBay? You wouldn't get the full amount, but should get near enough.

Thanks very much Emz for going to the trouble of finding this out:A.
I did once sell a batch of M&S vouchers on eBay, (I won £100 of them in a competition years ago:j) and got about £94 for them! Cash-flow was a problem even then:o. Not sure I'll sell these though, was thinking I might take a trip to M&S (when I can afford some petrol at the end of next week) and buy some interesting food for a treat. Would make a very pleasant change.0 -
Day off today :T - working tomorrow evening and then 6 hours (all overtime) on Friday.
I'm having to be a bit creative at the moment to get my sister's birthday presents bought (it's Tuesday next week). I've used the majority of my Amazon money so I don't have to spend too much of my own. It's a bit tight until OH's payday a week on Friday.
The Austria trip is coming together nicely. We're flying from Heathrow to Zurich with BA. They are even paying for a car for us to drive over there, which is really good of them considering transfers weren't included in the prize. They've also paid for us to put a bag in the hold.
I promised a picture of the new degus, so here they are:

Aw so cute Emz, thanks for showing them x0

I agree with constantworrier, the degus are really cute. Are they all getting along nicely together now they've had a bit more time? It's horrible when a new pet is introduced and the existing ones play up. I've had plenty of that with cats over the years:eek:
I think I mentioned before when you first told us about your holiday prize that the promoters usually treat the prizewinners like royalty, at least in my own experience and that of other winners that I know of. It sounds as if yours are no exception. It makes the trip so much more enjoyable when they iron out all the little potential problems:T
It sounds like a lovely, well-deserved break for you and OH (or are his parents planning to get in on the deal somehow?;)). When do you go? In the meantime, are you going to have any time away from work when you can watch the Davis Cup matches? I haven't seen any TV schedules yet but I expect it will be on somewhere:j. I've always been a fan of Lleyton Hewitt and am really pleased he's playing in what sounds like his swansong before retirement. It's guaranteed he'll put everything he's got into trying to win his matches:j. Should be an exciting weekend.0 -
Hi CBC
The degus are still in separate cages, but they seem to be okay being next to each other. I'm going to get them all out in the hallway next week and see how they get on (no electrical wires in the hallway for them to chew on!!).
We go away on the 2-4 October. I've had to fit it in around my days off as I've got no leave left.
I'm off this weekend. I was working yesterday, so didn't get to see Andy's match (although it didn't last that long anyway!), but I saw some of Dan's. He played well bless him, considering he is around 280 places lower than Tomic in the rankings!!
I watched the doubles today and am still feeling shattered by it. I get really into the matches and my throat is a bit worse for wear now. But so glad they won :j:j:j - let's just hope Andy can finish the job off tomorrow.

I feel exactly the same about being shattered at the end, it was one of the most exciting doubles matches I've ever seen in my whole life:j. What a rollercoaster ride. I told you before that I was a fan of Lleyton Hewitt and I have to admit I was rooting for him today. I'm not unhappy at the final outcome, I want GB to win Davis Cup itself:j, but would have loved Hewitt to have been on the winning side just for today. He reminds me a lot of Ferrer, not the biggest guy physically but more than makes up for it in effort and determination.
Now we've got to go through it all again tomorrow:eek: but I don't think Andy will have too much trouble finishing things off. I know there are quite a few of the Aussie Fanatics there but the amount of Brits and the volume of noise they are making must be very intimidating for the Australian team. It must be brilliant for the GB team to play in that atmosphere:j.0 -
Love the Degus
xxxxNevertheless she persisted.0
