Just cross-posting a related issue. It relates specifically to opening an account with the Yorkshire rather to switching but, obviously, if you switch then you are also opening an account (I would have linked to the thread but apparently I am not allowed despite registering here eight months ago).
Yes - I saw that on the other thread. How odd?
When I opened my account they asked me if I was going to have my salary paid in and I said no - and they seemed happy with that at the time. Still waiting for the £150 though.
I find it hard to believe they will go to the effort of writing to your employer to request information as to whether or not you will be paying your salary into their account. Frankly any payroll department would tell them where to go - its none of their business as its a matter between you and your employer what account your salary is paid into! I have certainly never come across this before as a condition of opening an account.0 -
Well here is the incentive post to keep you persevering folks,
Account opened 21/11/14
Switch Complete 03/12/14
Salary Payment >£1k 19/12/14
Credit received 06/01/15YB Direct
Account opened 24-11-14
Switch complete 02-12-14
£1000 deposit 04-12-14

When you deposited £1000 to the account, did you take it back to other account on same/next day? Or did you leave it in until you received the incentive? You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

I've created an account at RBS that I just want to use for switching to the YB account. How soon after creating it can I switch it?0

As mine is the Direct acc I put the £3000 in and it will stay whilst paying 2%.

Thanks, that's useful, must be getting it confused with another account.0 -
For those that have opened at both banks already, can you see accounts from both banks in the same internet banking?0
