Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

This bank offers very poor service. I applied on the phone when this was first announced (in November i think). After a lengthy phone call i was told my application had been accepted. Approx 3 weeks later i rang them as i had not had any forms. They were unable to deal with my enquiry and promised to ring back. I have not recieved a call back. I then e mailed a complaint and to date all i have had is an acknowledgement letter. What a shower.0

do any conditions apply to closing ?
say after 2 months i don't like the account and close can they claim back the £150 ?0 -
Switch happened before Christmas but still not been able to access account as the activation code not arrived. It was sent to a mobile number I didn't recognise 3 weeks ago and 2 sent by snail mail still not arrived.
So this week I persuaded them to text the code to my actual mobile and that has not arrived. To say I am not impressed so far is an understatement!0 -

Don't know, but I doubt there'd be a problem.
But if worried why close it? You could leave it dormant, or switch it somewhere else that pays an incentive.
I'd just leave it dormant with 50 pence in it and not use it, saving it for when another switching incentive comes along.
Unless you chose the one that requires £1000 paid in each month, in which case switch it to the basic version asap.0 -
Took the advice of people here and walked into Yorkshire Bank branch today. Didn't need to book an appointment and the guy squeezed my account opening in between his two appointments. The whole process took maximum of 20 mins and I was given my acc number and sort code plus Internet banking registration details. Switch date is next week Friday.
Was also given a lovely pack which I seriously doubt I would be reading.
If you can help it, save yourself the hassle of the call centre confused and longwinded process and do a face to face appointment.£47605.33 outstanding in C.C (£8000 Interest free till January 2025)0 -

What happens if you don't?
Possibly nothing. I was merely suggesting that if the account had minimum pay-in requirements for its operation, but you don't want to actually operate it, then it would be better to change to one without any requirements.
Some banks charge monthly fees if you don't pay in the monthly minimum - though I think Clydesdale/Yorkshire might not, and the minimum payment thing is more about getting a decent interest rate with them. In which case I was possibly being a bit over-cautious.0 -
I asked this very question and was told that they would not pay the credit interest - and after a few months, downgrade the account to non-interest bearing account - Current Account Plus IIRCPossibly nothing.
