  • Just curious, does anybody intend using the Clydesdale direct account as their main account?

Not me as the 123 is a better deal for me. I would also put TSB, BOS and Tesco higher on my list than the CB Direct. Personal preference only, methinks.

They're still being the comedy bank for me!

Switch hasn't happened, and on querying this I'm told that they can see it was set up and scheduled, but that it didn't go ahead.

And they can't explain how or why this happened, or indeed didn't happen.

But to re-start it, they may need to send the paperwork back out to me again...

Comedy bank's a pretty apt description. Two accounts here (self and wife) and the whole experience has been laughable throughout.

From the ludicrously lengthy and convoluted telephone (why?) signing up process, which they managed to seriously mess up for my wife, right through to every single aspect of operating the account.

Complaints? Certainly, sir, just ring our premium rate 0844 phone line.

This is the bank designed for savers - just put your money in and we'll do our very utmost to make sure you can't get it out again.

If ever you fancied spending an hour or two trying to design the worst possible banking experience you could possibly manage to create, as some sort of masochistic exercise, don't bother. Yorkshire Bank have done it all for you.

Yorkshire Bank: don't bother with the scary rides at Alton Towers - come to us for that deeply frustrating experience you knew you never wanted.

Like so many others, just as soon as that £150 arrives, we'll both be off. Thank God First Direct still operates the main accounts. :)

I was initially as my FlexDirect is great but I know that the free overdraft and 5% will end again once my 12 months honeymoon is over.

The interest rate is essentially the same as BOS for up to 3k, the mobile app works well and they have a reasonable branch network along with good Post Office facilities :)

That said, their overdraft was very competitive at 9.9% until they added the £6 usage fee at the start of December and the internet banking is almost as primitive as First Direct/M&S Bank's offering :(

A person in branch mentioned something about launching a better current account in 2015 and they are offering 1k cashback with no fees on several mortgages just now.

I've been waiting for three weeks for a phone call to open an account. I fail to see why I cannot open the account online, nor why I have to specify a particular day!

I rang them. They sent me the forms the next day.

I've only just got around to sending off the signature form + current account switch docs for this bank.

What happens next? Do I have to wait for a debit card before I can setup online banking?

Your question is answered on their website...

It's no, but you'll need to first register for telephone banking if you're not using the debit card.

Still haven't received the activation thing for internet, despite requesting one online weeks ago, and by phone about 10 days ago, so I went into a YB branch yesterday, and withdrew the £1000 over the counter. I forgot my card, but they still let me do it by showing my driving licence.

Will try again for the activation thing, then I can watch for the £150 if it arrives.
