Confirmation letter received 24 December, but 'Good to Know' welcome brochure which apparently tells me everything I need to know about my new account, including how to use internet and telephone banking, was missing
    Revised switch date 5 January

A helpful CS lady helped set me up for both telephone and internet banking and I ordered security token.

Debit card arrived 27 December, Pin & Security token arrived today and token successfully activated. FP in and out completed.

So, after a very tedious & protracted opening process, it all seems to be working ok.

Hopefully the switch and switching incentive won't need any further interventions from me :p

Sounds like you're pretty much spot on the same schedule as me - I've now got my card, pin, and token wotsit, was missing the welcome pack, and have a switch completion date of the 5th or the 6th (can't recall exactly). I'll race you to the £150 :D
  • Received my confirmation letter but no 'Good to Know' welcome brochure.

Phoned to register online banking, it was very easy and straightforward. Customer number on my letter is only 8 digits, so while on the phone for online registration I asked for my full customer number - she gave me with no problem.

However I didn't receive any letter about switch date, I asked her and she said I would need to contact my old bank...I will do that tomorrow. Received a goodbye text from old bank so it looks like the switch is in progress, annoying when I don't know the switch date! Apart from that, everything goes smooth...for now. Ordered a security token too. Will put £1k once the switch is completed.

    Woooo.

YB/CB are your agent for the switch. They are responsible for the switch and must be able to tell you what your switch date is.

The only possible exception to this might be if you have an outstanding debt on your old bank account. You must settle this debt yourself with your old bank. If you have no debt on the account to be switched, there is no reason why you should contact the old bank.

I thought that when she said I would to contact my old bank, it's strange...I don't have any outstanding debt on the account.

I have just phoned my old bank's switch team and they were able to provide the switch date, it was straightforward. My switch date: 8th January.

Let's hope the security token arrives soon!

Question to people who applied for Current Account Direct: what is listed as "Product name" in "Account Details" tab in online banking? I got "135-Current Account Plus" even though I applied for Current Account Direct?

You've got a Current Account Plus. How did you apply? If by phone then the product name will also have been on the customer mandate form which they sent you so you could have queried it before returning the paperwork.

    Current Account Direct is:

    540 - CURRENT ACCOUNT DIREC

    Many thank Ed-1.
I applied by phone. Perhaps they misheard. I am not intending to use the account a lot anyway so it doesn't really matter. I was just curious whether these two accounts are the same except Direct requires a minimum deposit and pays more interest.

I have 2 accounts showing, both called "CURRENT ACCOUNT". One is definitely a Current Account Direct as I have been getting interest on it for some time. The other one is new and supposed to be a Current Account Plus but who knows. Both are sort code 05-00-22.

I just put a switch day I liked on the form. They had to ring me to move because I said one too soon 😀.
