I couldn't be bothered with the messing around online so I went into the local Yorkshire branch (badly in need of investment) for the first time and took out the £1000 in cash. Walked it round to the Santander from whence it came and I'll hopefully see the £150 appear shortly.

So I got tempted by Clydesdale £150 switching offer, but I'd love to know from an already existing customer how good or bad they are at sorting things out should anything go wrong.

    Thanks.
I've been with them for nearly a year - opened a Current Account Direct. The offer then was 4% for a year. The opening process was a bit of a drag, but only involved signing paperwork and returning it.

I needed to call CS a couple of times at the start about internet banking and my calls were answered quickly and courteously and the issues sorted.

Since then I have sent online secure messages whenever I needed to query a transaction, direct debit or whatever and got very speedy responses, always directly answering my questions. Unlike other banks I have used, you see debit card authorisations on the transaction list before the actual debit - so if you use the card in say, Sainsburys, you see it immediately online but with no retailer name until the full transaction is recorded a couple of days later. I needed to query a couple of these when I didn't recognise them and a secure message elicited the retailer info. Nice.

I haven't been required to use my secure token in months, though I don't tend to transfer large amounts.

I'm a very happy customer. Communication is good, online banking excellent, no issues with the Mastercard Debit Card - now with WavePay - and being able to pay in and withdraw at the Post Office is icing on the cake.

I have the Clydesdale account - although I'm in England I just wanted something a little different, lol.

Three successive phone calls to Clydesdale and I'm now registered for internet banking (and can see my account).

My account-opened letter arrived this morning (sans welcome pack it said was included), so I called up to register for telephone banking as I don't have my debit card yet but the nice gentleman said I could register for both. He then put me through to the automated system to register a four digit code, which I did, and then the line went dead.

The second call confirmed I had registered for telephone banking ok, but this grumpy fellow wouldn't help with internet banking and said I'd have to wait on the pack the previous 'girl' I'd spoken to had just posted out after the line went dead before I'd get an activation code. Sigh.

After reading what the website claimed was and wasn't possible a bit more, I decided to phone back and got another helpful chap who confirmed I could register with them, and confirmed mobile details so I could be texted the activation code and even offered to walk me through the internet banking registration. Job done.

I also managed to get them to confirm my switch is due to happen on 6th Jan. Forms were signed 15th (posted 16th), not sure when the account itself was classed as open from. Losing track of it all, but hopefully still within their window for the £150.

Previous switches have felt like easy (if not free) money, but this one is a bit of a farce.

Think this is what I'll be doing after christmas. My switch completed on 22nd Dec, but don't have my online activation thingy yet (snail mail).

It says within 60 calendar days of the date you credited at least £1000.

I'm still waiting for confirmation that my account is open:(

    Successful application 26 November;
all paperwork including switch agreement returned 10 December; chosen switch date 23 December :rotfl:

Confirmation letter received 24 December, but 'Good to Know' welcome brochure which apparently tells me everything I need to know about my new account, including how to use internet and telephone banking, was missing
    Revised switch date 5 January

A helpful CS lady helped set me up for both telephone and internet banking and I ordered security token.

Debit card arrived 27 December, Pin & Security token arrived today and token successfully activated. FP in and out completed.

So, after a very tedious & protracted opening process, it all seems to be working ok.

Hopefully the switch and switching incentive won't need any further interventions from me :p

just in case you haven't noted that you still have to deposit £1K sometime after Jan 5 (if Jan 5 will indeed be your switch date)..............
credit your account with at least £1000 within 31 calendar days following your switch completion date

    Yup got that covered thanks.

I'll actually be moving £1k from a 1.5% TSB Enhance but figured I can leave it until after Jan 5 without losing too much sleep over the extra 7p :rotfl:
