Presumably because you apply online or by phone ??
...You do not normally get privilege by applying online .......
I thought you couldn't apply online?

This lot are certainly the type of bank for customers where speed is not of the essence.

  • I've got my debit card and online account set up...just waiting for my switch over next week.

    ordered my token as well.

I have moved a 1000 in and out the account in small amounts hoping it might help speed the process of getting the 150.

Good luck to anyone opening an account....it's just so slow and painful.

Please would you care to elaborate?
You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

The £1000 has to be deposited within 31 days of the switch happening, not before it.

I believe the £1000 pay-in has to be AFTER your switch has completed.

Oh no it isn't. In the 1980s, you were lucky if the Bank Manager let you have an account. He was the local God and if you got on the wrong side of him (always a him, never a her), you have had it. He most certainly wouldn't pay you £150, or even a fiver, to take you on as a customer, and if you "banked" elsewhere already, what were you doing wasting his time by applying for an account with his bank, anyway! Very little if anything of that is left in 2014.

Fair enough. I take back my hyperbole. But the point still stands.
I know it's miles easier to open TSB accounts, but then, they don't pay you a penny to join them, do they? No pain, no gain.

No, but TSB do pay me 5% interest on £4000 rather than 2% interest on £3000.
Not sure how buying customers with questionable profitability at £150 a pop really helps them, but I won't argue if they think they should pay me for enduring their pathetic application process.

    Beats me.

You probably read on here that YB/CB had removed the restriction they had in their original terms for te switching bonus. The very fact that it is now no longer excluded means it is included.

    why the hesitation?

How do you know your switch is taking place next week – this is the last piece of the puzzle for me.

I sent the switch forms back two weeks ago but my switch account is still active and there is no message to say its being switched?
