trying to get an "activation code". It doesn't arrive by email, so cannot get registered for internet banking
(I needed a customer number. Nobody has ever told me one! Now have it)

They have not swept up the direct debits I have on my old account, only a couple of s/orders. Need 2 ddms for the interest !

    Getting cheesed off now !!!!!!!!!

Your confirmation of account opening letter should have a customer number.

Alternatively just call the internet banking number 08447 368 368, Select option 1 then 2. They should be able to tell you your customer number? – and will ask you to select your 4 digit telephone banking code (which you just type into the phone). Once this is done you can ask them to text you an activation code – but you need to register your mobile number first (they can do this). It took me two calls – they never texted the first time – but it worked for me in the end.

Yorkshire bank actually get vaguely hi tech – once you are in!:D

PS There is no requirement to have direct debits for the 2% interest on the Direct account is there – you just have to pay in £1000+ a month unless I am mistaken?
  • MARTY, when I first called them last month they suggested 19th of December for the switch date so I said ok.

Use one of the 0800 numbers instead of the expensive 0844 number, i.e. 0800 202122.

DD's not required, just £1000.00 per month for the interest to be implemented.

This lot are certainly the type of bank for customers where speed is not of the essence.

It's only the application process which is slow. Once opened the account is great. Everything works like any other bank. You only apply once and surely it's not that urgent to get the account open!

Clydesdale Isa 40 day notice, still not opened or transferred from existing holder after three weeks !

Forms returned as they said they couldn't verify identity ! The Isa's I am wanting to transfer has been with another provider for 12 years, banked with the same bank for 30 years, credit cards etc, never in debt, lived at same address for 35 years, just don't know why they cannot identify, I don't even wear a burka !

Got my account opening letter on 10th Dec.
Just had an email from my 'old' bank saying-
"We've started your account switch and it should all be done by 22/12/14."

You say, 'To my surprise, my Nationwide FlexDirect is already today showing the label "this account is switching out"'. Where do you see this exactly? I see nothing on mine.

Did you make your application in branch or phone? Afew people said previously that YB/CB was not accepted Nationwide account for telephone applications.
