I was advised that debit MasterCard was issued by default.
Obviously, if you wanted a Maestro then they would issue it instead but they advised against it.Actually I was asked if I wanted a maestro or MasterCard. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
got a £15 credit to my new Clydesdale a/c after moaning about the time/cost of phone calls !
Still chasing the Yorkshire opening papaerwork (from 19/11). "Don't know why it wasn't sent"....
Q "Why do you want a Y AND a C a/c - we have to check fro Money Laundering"
My A - do you really think I would tell you if I was a drug dealer:rotfl:0 -
Does anyone know what date counts as the new account being opened? I can't remember exactly what date it was I phoned and got accepted for the account, but the paperwork was sent out on the 1st December. I still haven't had a card, internet banking info or any further confirmation that they have accepted my paperwork ( - apart from 3 separate letters asking me to complete another switch agreement, the original one not having anything to fill in)
I opted for the current account direct so I need to pay in £1000 per month but don't know what date my account was set up, so don't know when i need to pay £1k in by.
Thanks0 -

Irrespective of when the account is opened,to qualify for the £150.00 incentive, £1000.00 needs to be credited within 31 days of the switch being completed.
You only have to pay in £1000.00 per month to keep qualifying for the 2% interest on the Direct account.

But it is variable so can be dropped to next to nothing quite quickly, albeit they will give 2 months notice of intention to do so.
.
That's always the case with a variable rate - but you do need to have £24k to get that rate and given the sell off planned by NAB they probably want to keep the customers for a bit longer.
And I get 60 days notice of a rate change - on a 40 day notice account. So I have nearly 3 weeks to sort out a transfer if it drops too much!0 -

I wasn't disagreeing, just pointing out.
I have that account, but as rates are unlikely to rise short term it might make better sense to move to a fixed term before they drop even further.

Is the £1000 per month criteria for 2% interest, or for the Direct account itself? (ie, can I still have the account open if I do not pay in £1000 per month)?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -

I believe it's just for the interest.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -

But does that apply before you do the switch - if that takes over a month to do?
I expect some people may pay in the £1k pocket the £150 - and then leave a zero balance. They can hardly claw the money back.0
