  • It doesn't matter whether a DD has been called or not prior to a switch or switch request being made. So long as the DDIs are showing on Halifax that's all that matters.

I was looking for an answer to this too :). Thanks both
£15900 loan (including interest) over 3.5 years to pay off...can I do it sooner???

There just needs to be direct debit instructions (DDIs) - sometimes called direct debit mandates (DDMs) - registered on the account.

Only Club Lloyds and Halifax Reward currently state that these DDIs need to pay out each month.

Applied for the YB current account direct and got message at end saying they need more time for a team member to look at my application and I will get a decision within 2 days. Has anyone else who applied got the same thing? Can't imagine any issue with my credit check as never had an issue with this and all my other applications for other current accounts been fine. Only thing I'm thinking might be is that as all my income is from rental/investments income then perhaps they want to look into this further.

All fine now as they have confirmed approved.
  • Switching went well, got incentive, enquired for a token, received a token, but never got a visa debit card with Yorkshire Bank. Anyone else experience this? Will I still be able to switch in the future without a visa debit card?

You may/should be OK for future switches providing there isn't a debit card attached to your account, ie it hasn't been lost somewhere.

BTW, I thought YB were MasterCard Debit, not Visa Debit?
  • Well, it looks like I might be at the end of the line for switching and filling up current accounts. It was good while it lasted and I'm spending the money now anyway due to a house extension in progress.

Just tried to apply to Yorkshire Bank to switch the Lloyds account and get the switching bonus and it was rejected. Thought I'd give Clydesdale a go, but 'technical problems' are preventing the application going through and I can't be bothered phoning them.

Understandable really - I've just paid for a kitchen on 0% credit, I have a £10k loan, car on 0% finance, 6 current accounts used as savings accounts (although now dwindling rapidly) along with 3 credit cards used for various cashback and overseas spending purposes, I'm well over 50% of my salary in debt (albeit very manageable) so I suppose I don't look too good in the bank's eyes right now :o

Looking at Twitter, Yorkshire Bank say they need the switching agreement returned to them by the deadline to get the £150. I filled in my details for the switch online after my application was approved, is there anything I'm missing?

i've done a few switches now, this one was more effort than all 4 others combined. it paid the most but i wouldn't bother again. i should have known better, tried opening an isa with the clydesdale a few years ago and it was the same letter and phone farce.
