From experience, the letter is a bizarre contradiction in that the problem lies with TSB (or Lloyds/HBOS who also use the same letter), not the new bank.
Have you checked with TSB whether there is an indicator on the account? Have you only recently opened the TSB account? When did you open the 2 Classic Plus accounts? TSB have been known to place a block on a 2nd Classic Plus account (and others if you opened at the same time) if you open in sole name online as the terms state max one in sole name.
I also thought this, why are they saying contact YB?
I opened the 2 classic plus accounts last year and the classic account end of last month, I'm sure last year t&c said 2 classic plus accounts are allowed. I have since read the t&c and it does say 1 classic plus account.0 -
Can you see your recently opened TSB online? Can you transfer money into and out of it?0

If you opened the accounts while the terms still permitted 2 then that won't be the reason for any block on your new account. Can you see your recently opened TSB online? Can you transfer money into and out of it?
Excellent suggestion - to test if there is a '646' block indicator on your account send a small payment into it from elsewhere; if it bounces back then that's exactly what the problem is. Alternatively try to transfer into it from another TSB account. If it throws up an error message then that shows that there is an indicator present as well.0 -
x2 dd have left last week, also money has gone in and out no probs. Could I be having switching troubles because i haven't used my debit card on this acc?0

TSB debit cards don't need activating.0 -

So you have online access to the account. That's helpful to know. Have you tried - today - transferring money in out?
If the answer is that you have, and that it worked alright, your next step is as advised by TSB: call YB to ask what the issue is.0 -
I've read the letter enclosed with debit card and it doesn't say I have to activate it so it's unlikely to be that.0

transferring a payment to external acc is fine. and also between TSB accounts is fine.0

Need to call YB then, as your post suggests and letter suggests.
Is it likely that its because its open for less than a month? Shall I say it just wasn't the right account for me if they ask? then i saw the incentive with Yorkshire bank and decided to switch?0
