be careful which a/c you initially open. The 'plus' a/c cannot earn interest. The 'direct' a/c can - 2% on £3k (need £1k in/out p/mth).

    Has anyone successfully opened a C and a Y a/c ?

    It’s a potentially arduous process.

CURRENT ACCOUNT CASH INCENTIVE TERMS & CONDITIONS

    ELIGIBLE CUSTOMERS

    1. You are eligible for this offer if:

    (a)
you hold a current account with another bank or building society and you meet the Qualifying Criteria outlined below; and

    (b)
    either:

    (i) you do not already hold a Personal or Private current account with Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank as at 17
th November 2014 and you open a Personal or Private current account with us on or after that date; or

(iii) you already hold a Personal or Private current account with us, and have paid in less than an average of £1000 per month over the 6 month period prior to 17
th November 2014 into that account, or since you opened that account if that is a shorter period of time.

Same T&Cs for both Banks. Doesnt this then read that if you opened an a/c say 19/11 with Clydsedale, then you CAN also have one with Yorkshire ?

Re my posts above where I could not switch using a Nationwide Flex account with sort code 07 02 46 when trying over the phone, I went into the local branch this morning, and told them of my problems, they said there should not be a problem, checked the sort code and said they could not see any reason why that acc should not be switched except that 2 different systems where being used, the phone one was the “new one”, the branches still have the “old one”, but hope to have the “new one” soon, so I gave all of my details again us using the above code, the account was opened there and then, I have an account number and sort code for Yorkshire Bank, (Current account direct), I just have to wait for my pin and debit card, I have given the switch date of 03rd December, then I can deposit £1000.00, then hopefully 60 days after I will have £150.00 deposited into the account.

    re post 153
just haad a torturous conversation with a poor lad at 'Yorkshire' 0800 202122 (ok to open a/c on this No).

Many Qs as to why I wanted a 2nd a/c. "Is it for the £150", etc. I just said for personal reasons. Depite him saying many times, why/not possible, he finally elented that it WAS possible, even though I was not supposed to do it ! He admitted it was not prohibited in 'either/same' T&Cs. Will be doing later/more time

Re my post above, local YB have just called me to confirm my debit card number and I asked her the question re your post, she is to contact head office and get back to me with a definitive answer, although this will only be verbal it may help, especially if the answer is yes and I can get her to confirm it in an email.

just been to YB branch, ,explained re CB a/c. No problem, please open here and we will get u a coffee !
Applied by phone. Guy initially said no/cannot. He checked. OK then but you really shouldn't !
Went through app. and has come back as an underwiting/refer decision (expected that ! - they got the hump....)
You can only have one Direct sole a/c and one joint, so my CB is Direct, the YB is Plus.
If I fail by phone, I will go to Branch
    This is almost fun/gladiatorial !!
  • Just phoned up and had the fastest application I think I've ever done. Scottish gent took my name, DoB and address, asked how much I earn and the name of my employer, bish bash bosh, pack in the post.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

    Failing that, I used 0800 2346550 successfully.

  • Brilliant, I'm going to have to take this offer up, I'll go into town and open up a secondary account first. I live nowhere near a branch so hoping I don't have to produce ID!
