    Blimey I missed that one!

It was back in the days when people just quietly opened and ran their bank accounts without asking millions of questions on a public forum first, and without broadcasting the minutia of what can be done and how. Nowadays bankers just need to read a forum and find out about the things they missed in their T&Cs.
  • I have managed to open a Clydesdale account and a Yorkshire bank account using the switch service. Hopefully will get 2 lots of £125 :-)

Strange - all appears to be working fine for me.

Switch your 'Main' bank account. Any idea what this means and whether there is ever any attempt to suggest the dormant/near dormant account you switch simply to get the incentive is clearly not your main bank account?

    See posts 88-96.

The incentive T&Cs do not make any mention of 'main account'.

    Hi,

I applied on Thursday evening. ID check and application all approved. How long it takes for the application pack to come through?

    MS

I was told that over the phone - all approved all fine.

Then I got a voicemail message saying that wasn't quite correct and I have to go to a bank branch to provide photo ID and proof of address to get it actually approved - something I have never had to do while opening bank/savings accounts applied for on line in the last 2 years with the same details.

Going to a Clyesdale/Yorkshire branch could be a bit of an issue if you live in the south - there aren't many and it could involve a long trek! But they didn't seem too bothered by that - fine for me but it might not have been.

So until you get confirmation in writing and your online account is activated - don't assume its all OK!

I am starting to wonder if the £150 is worth the hassle - the whole process is so antiquated for a supposedly modern bank. Doing it by phone - haven't they heard of the internet or email?!

In terms of the account you need to ‘switch from’ to qualify does anyone know if a basic bank account would qualify.

I have an old Halifax basic bank account with a visa electron card – opened in the days when this card saved you money when buying flights with easyjet and Ryanair etc. Never use this now – so I might as well close it.

I assume this wouldn’t qualify – but no harm in asking I suppose!

I have an easycash account with the Halifax and have been accepted today for a basic account with CB and yes I've been told I qualify for the £150 as well.

So that's another £150 into the clearing the debt fund :T:T
