1 I know it was said that an initial £1k was all that was necessary for the Current A/c Direct and the £1k/month was only to get the 2% interest but the T&Cs say the a/c 'is only available if you pay in each month'. So can they close it if I don't?

2 I seem to recall reading that only one Current A/c Direct was available and further a/cs should be Current A/c Plus, was that right?
    1. Since they appear to be paying the incentive in around 34 days or so (rather than the 60 the T&Cs say), you'll have almost certainly had your money before you reach that point. I seem to remember the account T&Cs do mention closure/downgrading, but its probably irrelevant based on the payment date? I'd imagine they'd write first and give you chance to start paying in though before taking those steps?

    2. The Direct T&Cs stipulate 1 sole plus 1 joint. And this is across brands too I understand.
  • You're relying on them not knowing when they sent the forms out. That could be a dangerous assumption.

If they don't officially extend the offer, we're fast approaching the point at which only in-branch switch requests will be able to be processed in time...simply because of the time its taking to send out the forms, if reports on here are anything to go by.

I spoke to them about this today, because they've not processed the paperwork on one of my accounts. The advisor told me that because I've "shown an interest" in switching my account before the due date and contacted them about it, I'll definitely still qualify for the offer even if I don't switch until after the deadline. He even mentioned them compensating for the delay, so here's to hoping it's delayed! Haha.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Indeed, I'm expecting my £150 this week. But I had been planning to hang onto the account for future switching purposes ;-)

I may 'launder' £1k through the account for a few months, it only takes a few seconds.

A joint a/c's out for me, so I'll go for a Plus.
  • Had a quick skim through this thread without finding an answer (sure its probably there somewhere though).

Has anyone switched their account away from CB before the incentive is paid, and subsequently received the £150 into the account switched to without any problem?
  • Not so far on this thread...

Just gone for my 4th this morning. It has been referred, so I will hopefully know within 48hrs.
The adviser did confirm to me, without me asking, that the offer is being extended to the end of March.

    Another referral for the wife.

I suspect that these referrals may be coming up in the event of some small discrepancy between the answers to the questions for the original account and those for subsequent accounts.

Their 'underwriters' (odd term for a bank) must be pretty busy!
  • I had a lovely lady on Friday night who went nuts when I tried to open a third account for my work expenses. She said I wasn't eligible as my sums didn't add up, she said that the amounts I had claimed to put in each account added up to more than my salary. It did but at no stage did she enquire how much was being supplemented by savings and also the fact that my work were going to be reimbursing directly into the account regularly.

Needless to say I got through to someone alot nicer on Saturday morning who kindly opened said third account.

Just phoned CB, I'm waiting for a call back as they're so busy. The young lady said you had to transfer 2 dd's as well, which was not mentioned in the T &C's. I pointed that out to her and she was unaware of it and has to check. I forgot to ask if Nationwide flex account was ok to transfer but I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's ok. Has anyone had any problems with that please? Thanks.

The adviser was pretty sure that I had been referred due to it being my 4th account application.
