I don't have an account with them hence don't know which t&c's you're referring to. I was asking as I would like to switch over for their promotion and wouldn't mind staying with them after a trial run, but if I don't find them as easy to use as my current bank provider (online banking/mobile bankng), then obviously I wouldn't want an unused bank card lying around in the house.
I've contacted them anyway so will see what they say.0 -

You'll find most banks have their account T&Cs on their websites these days, and that, of course, is the best source of information.
You can definitely write to close the account, according to condition 17.1
But if you're not happy you may find it easier to simply switch away again, using the same method as the one you joined with.0 -

Thanks!
And the switching idea literally came to me minutes after I'd posted so thanks for confirming what I thought.0 -

I was in my local clydesdale branch this morning filling out my switching forms and I asked if they had many switching for the £150 bonus and the branch manager said it had been very successful and head office were going to extend it to the end of march which is will be the second time they've extended it she said.
Nothing online yet about this news, I'm only repeating what I heard in branch but potential we could have another month to get more switches.0 -

Yes possibly, as I say Im only repeating my local branch manager, so until its confirmed its only speculation.0 -
So you can do this with both banks, and indeed for more than one account with each? I note that when filling out the request for a phone appointment you have to state whether you already hold an account with either bank. Do they ask any difficult questions about this when they phone you up?0

They'll ask you why you want the account but it you say a valid reason they'll continue on. You might also get your account referred after the 3+ but again when you ring up to check on them they'll put them through.0
