When I call through I'm never able to proceed with that adviser, they always need to transfer me to someone else. What number are you using?

    0800202122 (YB) or 08002346550 (CB?)

    CB fiasco.

Posted paperwork back to CB & YB 27-01-15, YB went swimmingly and switch occurred 10-02-15 as informed in their letter, but no word from CB despite them actually opening the new account.

I did call them on 06-02-15 and was told the switch would occur on 10-02-15, it didn't. called them 11-02-15 and was told switch had failed and would I confirm the details which I did, she said she would pass info on, 30 minutes later the post arrived, a letter from CB said to check the info on the switch form I had filled in,(included in envelope), they were all correct so I returned the form as requested with an accompanying letter confirming details correct.

This morning I get a call from CB informing me that the account I want to switch from is not included in the switching service despite the opening question when applying over the phone were sort code and acc number of switching bank and I was told this was OK.

Switching bank is Coventry BS, sort code: 406301.

This CA also confirmed to me that the incentive offer has been extended to 28-03-15, but has not been advertised.

0800 202122 for YB worked for me easily yesterday. Answered very quickly by an advisor who could open an account no problem.

YB yesterday suggested I use 0800 0283632 for follow up calls, but that might be a dedicated line for follow-up after setting up an account, not for starting from scratch.

I've never had a problem with my calls to CB either - though I can't recall what number I used for them.

PS for the record, I've only gone for 1 CB and 1 YB, am not able (not enough spare accounts) or perhaps not brave enough to go for anything more.

Just tried to open a third and the advisor asked if I just wanted to do another switch to one of my existing accounts.

I explained that they've both already had a switch done and an incentive paid but he said it could be done more than once and still get the incentive.

I wasn't sure so opened a new account anyway, but can anyone confirm?
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

Quite extraordinary. So there is no need to open any new accounts – you can just switch as many times as you like into one account? Surely that cannot be right?

But then looking at the wording again maybe it is – the terms say nothing about having to switch into a new account merely that you cannot use one open before 17 November which had more than £1000 per month in it for the previous six months? So you could use a new account opened post 17 November – which has less than an average balance of £1k?

Only problem is you need to credit the account with £1k – to get the incentive! So your average credit in month 1 would be £1k? Presumably then you should wait for the switch in from your old account – and then pay in the balance to take you up to £1k the next calendar month. So your average monthly credit is less than £1k?

    “To qualify, you must:
    (a) complete a full current account switch to one of our Personal or Private current accounts using the Current Account Switch Service, which includes the completion of an Account Closure Instruction for your Old Account:
    (i) the Current Account Switch Agreement must be signed during the period 17th November 2014 to 28th February 2015; and
(ii) the full switch must be completed within 21 days of the date you sign the agreement; and

    Offer only available when:
    (a) you open a new Personal or Private current account; or
    (b) you switch to an existing Personal or Private current account which has been credited with less than an average of £1000 per month over the six month period prior to 17th November 2014, or since you opened that account if that is a shorter period of time.'
  • Just tried YB on 0800 202122, automated message saying high call volumes and staff can't take the call at the minute and to phone back later. Will keep trying.

Since you opened your account, you've credited £1000 to it for the switch incentive. So you'd have to wait a month between doing each switch to make it not average at £1000 credit/month.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

No: that condition only applies to accounts opened before 17th November - the account cannot have averaged £1000 per month pay in over the 6 months prior to 17th November or since the account was opened (before 17th November) if that was a shorter period.
