I'm sure you haven't done any damage but at the same time you musn't be taken 'advantage of' and after kindly giving £20 being asked for money again does sound like someone trying to take advantage of you or at least taking you for granted as you indicated feeling in a previous post.
It sounds like other people are also looking out for him with the Costa coffees sandwiches and cash etc so it probably wouldn't hurt to take a little step back although no need to give up your concern altogether I am sure Gavin does appreciate it and the dog must love his treats.
We have some people who have been begging outside our local Tesco for years who are not homeless - in fact they live round the corner but they have never pretended to be homeless or gone to any effort to 'look like' they are homeless and as there are such a high number of homeless people in London the chances are he is genuine even though there are a few scammers around. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Next time you see him, if the dog's not wearing its coat, ask him why!I have two OAP staffies, and they can't bear the cold:("You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Just a quick update - my contract was terminated "on the day" on the 18th December (not just mine, a lot of contractors were terminated as employer simply had no money to keep us).
Went away for a week next day so did not post in the meantime.
Did not see Gavin on my last day and as I live in East London and have no reason at all to trek to Tooting now, won't see him again.
The people I worked with were terminated too so can not check on him/dog in any way.
If anyone reading this thread is in/around Tooting Broadway station, pls stop by and say hi to Gavin from Anna xx
Ermmmmm looking for a job now LOL0 -

Thanks.
Was a bit gutted to be honest as 2 weeks earlier they extended all of us till mid April and then such a surprise.
But hey, contractor's life - when it is good it is good. And then it ends. LOL
Still, good I got 10 months supply of cat litter (sale at Zooplus)0 -
Hope you find something soon, and it was heartwarming hearing about you helping Gavin and his dog
