Met them today - dog was not too happy posing for photos but managed to get 2 for you. One in brown jacket from Storm's Mum xxxx and one in black from me.
Brown one turned up to be a better size only the thingys at the back to put legs through were way too lose so I cut them off as there was no way of adjusting them. Covers him really nice.
The balck one - fit good overall but could be a bit loser round the neck, But as it her velcro on the neck all good.
Got some pigs ears and other dog thingys plus few bits and pieces for Gavin.
Thanks averyone xx
Awww what a gorg dog!lovely of you to help them :A"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Well, sometimes trying to help is hard.
Seen Gavin today, asked him if he wrote me what he needs and sizes etc (got him a notepad and few pens among other things last Friday). He said not yet.
Ermmmmmm
Perhaps I am trying too hard?
Feel a bit stupid as some people on FB offered clothes etc but do not want to take anything that may be wasted.
ot sure what he was so busy about between FridAY AND TODAY EVENING THAT HE WAS UNABLE to make a list of "needs and wants"?

May be a silly question but are you sure he can write OK ? If he struggles with literacy it would explain his lack of progress.0

Good point but I did ask him last Friday before I got that note pad and pens.0

This one seems quite good as it covers the tummy and is adjustable. Even if it was a bit long, it could be tightened up around the neck.

If you can't measure the actual dog you wish to buy it for, you could try putting a call out to members here for some idea of the size of their Staffies - I knit dog jumpers to raise funds for a dog rescue and often have to ask for help with different breed measurements to prevent spoiling a surprise lol.
I know Staffies are a breed that vary quite a bit, but hopefully you'll get a few measurements and you already know what size is too small.
Such a kind thought and I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Hi - do you knit jumpers to order or do you do them only for the dog rescue you support?0 -

Maybe he is embarrassed at the attention? If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
He does not seem embarassed when I give him money so perhaps it is just cash that he wants?0

It's more flexible for him if you give him cash. Maybe he doesn't think his clothes aren't too bad and is warm enough. He's also got nowhere to store stuff so will be very limited in what he can accept as he'd have to carry it around all the time. You might find that one of the dog coats gets thrown away after a while as it is extra bulk/weight and the dog can only wear one at a time.
If you want to continue to help out I'd stick at buying consumables for the dog - small amounts of food or pigs ears as a treat - and just give him cash.0 -
Sorry but I haven't read the whole thread but just wanted to say how kind of you to help.
I work in a place that helps vulnerable adults including homeless people. We provide clothes for our clients and have found they do like jeans because the are hard wearing and are quite good at stopping the wind if they are walking around a lot. Also lots of our men wear jogging bottoms or long shorts underneath for extra warmth.0 -
I do not mind helping out with cash but we had a bit of incident few weeks ago when I gave him a £20.00 one day and he called me over the next day and asked for "some spare cash" and frankly that made me feel a bit ermm not right.
I did ask about dog food, he said he does not need any. I still get the dog some treats.
I have no issues with what he spend money on but that made me feel a bit uneasy to be honest as I do not spend £20.00 per day on myself and I am pretty sure he got more money on that day not just the £20.00 I gave him.
Got to give this a bit of thought.0
