I'm looking at my room thermometer now, it's reading 21 degrees, the heating isn't on and I'm sitting here in a pair of joggers and a sleeveless t-shirt. (Going to yoga soon.) I'm not in the least bit cold and I can't imagine an 18 month old child being cold either, assuming the usual vest, nappy, long sleeved t-shirt, joggers and socks that my kids used to wear in winter at that age. Twenty-six degrees is a hot July day, off to the beach weather!

Sometimes biting the bullet is needed and this is one, your partner is trying to help someone and that is a commendable trait.

See the good in what she is doing and be happy for your lot.

Oh and get a gro egg.

You sound just like an ex partner of mine, he was tight too. If I was your other half I would run for the hills - lighten up a bit!

OP if you walk in from outside, the house is prone to feel hot. It can still feel cold to someone sat on the floor playing all day. If you have underfloor heating that may help, but speaking from experience it can be really cold on the floor level where a toddler is most of the time, compared to say sofa level. Could a couple of draught excluders help? Or is there a way one particular room can be made warmer, while the heating is off in the rest of the house?
  • I don't understand why the heating has to be on so high, I thought guidelines for young ones was room temp of 18 ish or is that just for sleep?

I don't understand it either, 26 degrees is hotter than some summer days, wow, I am sure the little one would be finding it very hot indeed and not needed.

  • You sound like a barrel of laughs clocking the meter every day!! Lighten up, turn the heating down a bit and, other than the petrol you won't be 'down' on any money!!

You can't ask for money when you offered to watch the child.

OP: engaged to a male? He's your fiance. Engaged to a female? She's your fiancee. The extra 'e' on the end makes the word feminine. Without the extra 'e' the word is masculine.

Blimey, completely OTT in my opinion. Not the heating, the OP's worries about the cost.

I'm with Piglet25, i'd be running for the hills too.
