MrCF thanks for my same number x
Well I like the idea of a running monthly update - it's great to see your own savings increase each month along with others - but I think a whole total could be really motivating - especially when you are tempted to open/spend your savings ( I appreciate sometimes we all have drama and crisis and need to use the money and any saving is better than the CC) but for me seeing the grand total I would not want to let the side down by not adding in my bit each month
I can't believe how much response has been generated already - we are all going to have a fab Xmas 2015 I can feel it already :T:T
I know there is another challenge on here which has a running total on a spreadsheet which the runner updates weekly. All you have to do is fill in a small form with your name, challenge number and how much you've saved for that month. It would be pretty inspiring and you wouldn't want to slack, as everyone would be able to see it :rotfl:
I can't believe there is so many members already. Pretty exciting. Just hope I can keep up with the pace of itmummytummy wrote: »#24 reporting in for the challenge, MrCF you can change my number if you want
I'm going to put in $2 a day if that's ok, exchange rates as they are it's still only around £365
You actually fitted perfectly in at number 24 so your the same as last year, if that's ok? £2 a day is no problem, just means have more responsibility to not let the side down haha :rotfl:
TO ALL NEW MEMBERS
Thanks very much for joining and I hope you stick around for the full year. I have added you all to the list on the front page, please check to see if I haven't missed you. Also I have given you a number, please use this when checking in with totals etc
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask. We are all helpfully and kind so don't be afraid.
Chow for now
MrCFSaving for that dream holiday0 -
I would like to join in, please, if I may.
I have been saving £2 coins for a few months now but I think lots of people must be doing that and I only have £30 worth as they are hard to come by. But that amount will come in handy as I have booked a trip to Birmingham Christmas market and that will buy me something there, hopefully.
£1 coins are easier to come by so, yes please, if I am not too late.0 -
YAY....Have Updated my Sig in readiness....I'm going to keep a running total there....But do let me know if I need to do anything else like declare it here once a month or something....0

Thank you so much for swapping dreamerHelen. I am very grateful. I have almost this paranoid belief that odd numbers are bad omens and for some silly reason my brain has latched on to number 8 as being lucky and good for me.
I have no idea why this is at all.
:embarasse
Sorry for being so akward mr CF. It's just because I go on holiday early in December and we have to send parcels down to England, it is easier to run from November to November and then when we go down to visit in November, we have all the presents ready to go. I promise it is not just me trying to be fussy.
Can't wait for this to begin. In fairness, our pot might end up out of kilter anyways as we tend to stick spare coins in any of our three pots. Better to be saving than spending.
Can't wait to see how the spreadsheet goes. It will be amazing if we can make it to £100,000 or more!!!!!

Thank you!! I love being 150 -
Ooh it's so grand that are numbers are swelling so :T:T
Dinkie I have saved this year for myself a snuggle chair and then planning next year to save two separate pots - one straight into my ISA as a only if the roof falls in kind of emergency monies and then also a pot of actual £1 coins for something else that again I just fancy nearer the time - I don't think it matters what you are saving for just that the monies are saved so are available for you to spend! I recently too have had ill health (all good again now tho thankfully) and will no longer feel guilty for being kind to myself - however this shapes up - bar of chocolate, hot lazy bath or something I have bought. - life is too short so grab it while you can and if you have worked hard at putting the money away then good for you I say to spend it on whatever takes your fancy! :j
Ooh hark at me on my soapbox :eek:Meowhouse SPC #7 no 199 £560.58

Well said Meowhouse - its nice to have an emergency pot to fall back on, but if you have saved the money why on earth shouldn't you treat yourself without feeling guilty about it. This year I have been really naughty and bought a coat from H~bbs which (to me) cost a fortune, but do you know what, I LOVE it, it makes me feel like a million dollars, and I handed over the cash I'd been saving in an envelope. My oh was a little aghast (and he doesn't even know how much it cost), but to me, it was so worth it.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0
