Tickers was saying he thought it was too much money for the job.
Maybe we're just not willing to pay enough for a meal deal. I mean, they're only £3 and, even so, some will scour the internet for a voucher whilst saying the people making them should make more money.0 -
i'd much rather have a subway meal deal £3 for a freshly made hot toasted sub and drink0

However, this has caused some anger, as people phoned into 5Live stating they had been to group interviews at Greencore for previous jobs, and NONE of those in the groups got jobs.
Yeah, but the woman who phoned 5Live also claimed she had a degree in "Maths and English"'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
The problem with the Glencore company was very bad reputation that the locals are aware of, plus, the jobs don't start until 2016.
Cash in pocket of 27k is equivalent to a gross salary of around 36k. So 27k in your pocket for only 24 hrs work is just plain wrong.
Somebody said "would parents really want this for their family?" Well, for 27k per yr, with only one parent working part time, is awesome for raising pre school children and avoiding childcare. The stay at home parent, is even backed up by the other parent working 4 days a week. You say this is not a secure way of life... but do you really think the gov will pull this support and plunge a significant number of poeple into poverty in the real sense of the word not the one used by media and politicians. They will be homeless, and starving without the benefits.Peace.0 -
Is that definitely 27k disposable plus accommodation paid for? How about council tax?TickersPlaysPop wrote: »Try these benefits calculators... It is quite an eye opener...
On a part time 24 hr week job earning 15k per yr, family of 4 with only 1 parent working and with 1 boy and 1 girl , the cash in pocket is approx 27k per yr inc wage plus all the benefits. That includes living in a privately rented 3 bed place.
For working only part time that is far too good in my opinion. There is no incentive to work when the benefits are better than working! It means also that it creates generation rent for life, while the government lines the pockets of buy to letters, the part of society that bother to vote?!. See for yourself on these sites:

We need hard facts and not opinion on all of these EU debates?
We need to see official figures from trusted and reliable sources, for the number of non UK born residents from the EU working here, their salaries and how much they are claiming in benefits.
These numbers surely suggest marginal effective tax rates of over 100%? I thought these maxed out at 'only' 95%....I think....0 -
LOL. I was listening to that on the interwebs last night as the ABC evening show isn't really to my taste.Yeah, but the woman who phoned 5Live also claimed she had a degree in "Maths and English"
I'm yet to meet someone with a BASc in English and Maths but well done her for taking on such a challenging degree. I can't help but think that she'd be a little wasted on sandwich production.0 -

I put the figure through for a more realistic part time wage of £8200 24hrs at min wage and it comes out at £24k increasing to 40hrs a week gives them an extra £200 a year.
Also if you are single and under 35 you will get nothing.0 -
Strange how the usual suspects try to draw the EU and 'foreigners' into this debate. The only issue here is our benefits system being too generous. This is not imposed by the EU.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »Not lucrative?
Or just not lucrative by comparison to our overly generous and bloated welfare system?Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Indeed, there is so much scope to cut the 100 Billion annual deficit and put extra money into services such as the NHS without further taxes. It just needs the political will before the country goes down the pan. WTCs were a stupid idea, and at last some people are waking up to reality.
The country just cannot keep paying people more than they contribute in taxes while also hiring immigrants(who also then claim WTCs:rotfl:) because of scroungers that will not do a full week's work due to WTC's and child benefit disincentive etc.
The system is a joke !! :eek:0 -

It will certainly get pulled as soon as our National Debt repayments become unsustainable. The interest on that debt has doubled in 5 years to nearly 60 Billion annually.0
