    Hi,

Quick question about credit rating. For the first time ever I forgot to pay my council tax bill on time and got hit with a £100 charge, as it could've went to the magistrates court. I paid it straight away when I found out. Will the adversely affect my credit rating? I was going to apply to get a 2nd credit card soon that is 0% interest for as long as possibe in order to pay for our honeymoon this summer; now I'm worried that I will be refused. I think my rating at present would be reasonably good, though have never checked.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Got my Experian credit report and there is the following on the searches:

    MR ******* ******, (MY ADDRESS)
    OPT OUT
    DOB **/**/**
Searched by RBS PLC IRO DIRECT LINE
    Application Type INSURANCE QUOTATION

Does anybody know if this search is viewable by any company who searches my record? I'm guessing it's relating to my home insurance, does anybody know exactly who it is? I'm guessing Direct Line but I don't remember getting a quote from them or approving a 'search'!

The local authorities don't log records on credit files so you should be OK so long as you dont have a CCJ against your name.

You could check your credit record though, get a statutory report for £2 and check all the info is correct. Good practice to do this once a year anyway!

Thanks for the info here. But why does it take so long to get a statutory report when you apply for it online?

I did a quick search, and only found a reference from a while back, so i thought i'd mention that capital one still give cardholders free access to equifax credit reports....
  • Thanks for sharing for the tips.

I finally got my statutory report, which I opted to download, but I had to wait 6 days for them to post me a password. !!!!!!! I mean what is the flipping blumen blasty ‘ecking point of that. I registered to get my report online and I still had to wait days for a letter. It must cost Equifax at least 50p to process and post a letter when they could have e-mailed a code free.

When I did finally get the code it was stupidly long and complicated and included characters like; %__&@@. They didn’t work either, then I realised that on my letter that the Equifax sent me THEY put the wrong post code on it.

    Rant over.

Is it just me who still can't get the Experian £2 statutory credit report done online?

I opted to have a paper copy and not the online version.

Filled in my card details, name, address, how long I've lived there etc then still get the error message and a prompt to apply via snail mail :(
