How to obtain credit reports

Once I registered for free 30 days account with Experian, forgot to cancel it and they automatically started to deduct monthly charges.
This is bad. These companies shall provide an option to automatic cancel the account. What a rip off.0 -
After receiving Martin's email today requested online credit report from Equifax. Filled in form. Responded that I needed to phone customer services to complete the process. After 25 minutes holding on at 5p a minute I gave up.
Tried Experion. Completed form including credit card details. Had the following response:
Sorry there has been a problem
Unfortunately, we could not process your application for a credit report because we were unable to fully confirm your identity based upon the information available to us.
In order for your application to proceed, you need to write to the address below enclosing a copy of either a current passport or driving licence in your name together with two other original documents connecting you to your present address (eg. bank statement, mortgage statement, council tax bill, solicitor's letter, or recent utility bill in your name) these must be dated within the last three months. Please quote your reference number xxxxxxxx when you write to us.
Your card has been debited.

I'm hoping I've posted this in the right place
, if not please feel free to move it
I want to have a look at my statutory credit report (more for a nosy than anything else) however I'm a student. What address should I use?
My bank accounts (and overdraft) are registered to my parents address and I'm on the electoral roll at my parents address.
I was named on a electric/gas bill at my student accommodation two years ago and am on the electoral roll at my current student house (though don't have any bills in my name).
Should I completely disregard my student addresses and just give my parents address?
I'm hoping someone might be able to help0 -

You need to check what they charge as charges range from 0% -3%.
This charge isn't explicit, it's hidden in the currency exchange rate, so some will give better exchange rates than others.
Still even 3% is generally better than what you'd get if you exchanged cash at a lot of street places or hotels.
Also you need to be aware of Dynamic currency conversion.
If you are ever charged in GBP or asked if you want to be then say NO. You want to be charged in foreign currency and let your bank convert it. The reason is that the retailers conversion rates are almost certainly worse than those you get at a bank.
If you do a lot of travel then you should look at getting one of the cards that doesn't charge anything at all.
Some countries do not widely accept credit cards, so you need to research rather than just expect to use them at restaurants.
Italy for example didn't widely accept cards in restaurants last time I went, so don't assume it's comon like the UK.
But if it's VISA, mastercard or AMEX then it will be accepted at anywhere that accepts those cards regardless of where it is in the world.0 -

I've just done exactly the same thing! I didn't qualify for the 30 day free trial because apparently I've already had one. I thought that was with Equifax though. I guess not.
This is the email I got from them:

I requested to see it online as I was under the impression that it would be available more or less straight away! The email clearly states it will be sent to me in 7 working days.
I must admit, I'm a bit disturbed that the majority of the email focuses on the negative aspect of not receiving your report and pointing to help in chasing it! Doesn't instill much confidence does it?!
Oh well, will have to wait and see.
Good luck all who are trying to deal with them.
