Can you get the £2 statutory search on-line with experian yet, I know you can with eqiuifax but it would save me some money as I dony really neee to shell out $6.99 a month is I can go in once a month any buy one, line equifax, for £2 and see it immediately on my pc, now waiting on the printing and the postman.

Not yet - was supposed to be in place from July onwards iirc.

Will be interesting whether they consider themselves to be losing £4.99 from monthly subscribers or think they'll benefit by gaining more people accessing their report online as it's more accessible.

Maybe that's why they've been doing the adverts - to increase general public awareness that they exist, outside of the money forums ;)

Good grief!! Can anyone help me out, please?

I applied for free trials with experian and equifax at the end of last week (wish I'd read this first as I'd not have bothered but never mind).

Experian was fine - accessed the report and only one little issue with it that I will try and rectify with them.

Equifax however, has been a bit of a nightmare!

I answered all the questions it asked about credit agreements I had and the last one was about a catalogue I have an account with but have only used once and owe nothing. I didn't recognise any of the names so ticked 'none of these'. I think, in hindsight, the catalogue I am with is part of a bigger company and that's what I didn't recognise it!

Sooo, I was told I'd have to call, which I've done today.

I honestly could not understand half of what the woman was saying and she kept asking again for answers I'd just given her.

For example: she asked for the balance on my current account so I gave her the balance and she said 'the current balance on your acount with x bank'???

I said I'd just told her and repeated the balance that I know to be correct and she again said 'yes, what is your current balance with x bank'??

You can see how this conversation went on... I've never had a phone call like that before - it was truly awful!

So after a lot of this, she said it is no longer generating security questions and I need to send in official ID such as my passport!

I told her I'm not that interested and could I cancel it altogether and she said I'd receive an email about the call.

I asked have I now cancelled the account and she again said I'd receive and email and put the phone down!

Soo, I've not accessed this account at all, although I have registered with them.

Any ideas how I can make sure I don't get billed for this, please? I'm getting a little concerned after reading some of the posts on here!

Hiya guys I'm a bit confused and needing some help, if possible please.

I have obtained my equifax report (mostly green or yellow blobs) and done 'check my file' for my credit score which was 805. I have a joint mortage, bank account and credit cards with DH - as well as a 2 credit cards of my own and own bank account.

I recently applied and was refused a student account with my normal bank, as I am a mature student - going into my 2nd year. I want to move all my credit cards to one and have a lower interest rate - with capital one at the moment. If my bank has turned me down for a account what would be my chances with getting a balance transfer to a new credit card?

And how reliable is 'check my file' on their scoring?

    Thanks for any help
    Finally dealing with debt :o

Arggh! paid for my statutory credit report from Experian 2 weeks ago and STILL not received it-can't find a number to actually SPEAK to anyone so email them and they then send a automated reply saying they'll get back to me in 10 working days! They said i should receive my credit report in 7 working days.yeah right!

Barclays Bank reports current accounts to Equifax, not Experian, so that explains that one. I'd order a credit report from Equifax (For help, see page 1 of this sticky)
If the new account provides the same overdraft facilities as the old one, your credit history is not affected.

I got my credit reports about a year ago by post from all three agencies. My main current account which I 've had for years with Nat West didn't feature on any of them which I thought was a bit strange. It had an unused overdraft facility on it. A more recent current account that I had opened was listed on all three - it had an unused 50 pound overdraft limit at the time. I didn't use this second current account much. I didn't query it at the time as I thought it probably wasn't important and I wasn't planning on applying for any more credit then. (Had wanted to check my reports before applying to rent a flat.)

I've had a thought. Perhaps NatWest don't bother sending any info to the credit agencies because although i've got an overdraft facility I've not used it for ten years or so. (Someone else said the agencies don't track the amount in credit you are in current accounts.)

Presumably when you get a report from eg experian you see all the information they have recorded about you and they don't leave anything out?

You can cancel your experian credit report by calling on any of their contact no. or email them.
