  • Issues with slightly differing addresses....
My flat is listed with different companies in different ways, Flat A, Ground Floor Flat, BSM & GND etc...This is making it difficult for me to get the credit agencies to let me see my file. If I was to change the address so they were all the same, which format should I follow? I.e. electoral register, address the council tax bill come to...
    Any advice would be great.
    Thanks

Don't worry if your address is formatted differently on council tax bills and the like. That's of no consequence.

The electoral roll version counts when it comes to finance. Provided that you're consistent when you apply for credit facilities, bank accounts or to the credit reference agencies, you should be okay ;)

  • Dear all,

A little help needed on my credit file. After a few years wobbling I am trying to clear everything off. I have 7 open agreements on my file out of 21. And 3 more will be shut next month

13 are settled with no problems however I have one from last year which I have defaulted. It was paid within one month and shows Default, settled.

I am thinking of adding a note to my account as there were certain circumstances that surrounded this i.e. a family death overseas.

My score is really low and I could do with some help getting back so a couple of questions:

    1) do settled accounts affect my score?

    2) Does changing a name after a marriage help, still not changed it with the credit agency?

    3) can anyone recommend a good wording of my note to put on my file?

    4) Can settled accounts be removed before the 6 year window is there was no payment problems.

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Just as an added question how long does a default cripple your score for?

Or as an after thought what is this I understand about default on agreement where the original cannot be provided?

    Or has anyone had any sucess with the below link;

    http://www.learnmoney.co.uk/credit-file/small-defaults.html

If so who should I write to the orginal company who placed the debt or the default agency?

    1) Yes - positively if good payment history, negatively if bad payment history
    2) No - it would still be a name you were known as and not disclosing it could be considered application fraud
    3) Pass
    4) No

    5) 6 years

Can anyone please give me the email address for Equifax to cancel a subscription I made yesterday. I have tried a couple of emails, but both are bouncing back to me.
