    God bless you Nikki x

    Dear Lucky - hugs

OH is so grumpy when he's hungry I compare him to a baby. The black cloud dissipates as he eats and then he's left wondering why I'm frazzled.

    Hello Lucky, :hello:

Wow, how's your roller-coaster today? (((hugs)))

Poor DS2! ..Do hope he looks a bit brighter this morning; the Doc must have given him a super-powerful anti-b if you can expect to see the effects in less than 24 hours!

Otherwise, you've got some great hoorays! in recent news; DH's assessment, new boiler, amazing weight-loss.. :T

Granny makes a good point; have you noticed whether DH's mood deteriorates when he's hungry (or maybe, like the children, when he's had too much sugar)?

All digits human and canine crossed fervently, in the hope that you are not even now preparing for another visit to A&E, dear Lucky... :o

Ps. Someone mentioned a sensitive tooth and a long wait before dental appointment? ..Recommend Cors0dil mouthwash [£2.50ish from any chemist], tastes awful - mint flavour is nicest of the options - but very effective. Hold a sip in the mouth over the sensitive tooth, for as long as possible. ;)
  • Oh lucky you poor thing more stress and worry. Sending hugs and wishing you all well x

    Hi Lucky,

I stumbled across your thread in Nov last year and subscribed. Found you again and resubscribed. Still trying to work out how to use this forum. I think you are an amazing woman caring for your husband and kids. I relate to your post because I had surgery just over 2yrs ago to remove a brain tumour which they discovered was causing unexplained seizures. Needless to say I am still recovering and my husband has been my sole carer and it has not been easy for us. I am no longer on meds but I can relate to your husbands behaviour cause I struggle daily. I am usually the one that does all the finances/paperwork juggling etc and it all has taken a hit. I am still trying. I haven't finished reading all your posts but will get there eventually. I just want to encourage you to keep up the good work. It is very motivating to me.:j

Bless you Nikki, what a tough time you must have been having! Did the op stop your seizures then if you are no longer on meds? Has it left you with other problems? Sorry if I'm being too personal. I really hope you and your DH catch a break soon.

When I rant and rave I never think about how it would make people in your kind of situation feel. I'm sorry if it ever offends :o. Lovely to hear you use the word 'motivating', thank you Xx

  • Granny/Robin, you are both so right, DH gets worse when he is hungry. I understand it but it's very frustrating too, when he can binge one day just because he 'wants'(needs?) to, and then be sooooo set on being 'good' with his eating that he would rather not eat at all and potentially cause himself more problems. It's hard not to see this as very selfish behaviour as he only ever considers himself in either situation. He insists we buy lots of cookies/cakes/doughnuts etc when he craves sugar whether we can afford it or not, and then puts us all at risk of him having a seizure by refusing to eat.

I've spoken to him today about his behaviour. He heard me tell his Mum that I found him hard work yesterday so that was a good opener to the conversation :o. Pointed out that he didn't want DS2 to be off yesterday for his own selfish gain, then he didn't want to be at the hospital and made it more fraught by whinging and not eating, and then continued to be snappy at home. This morning he took all his tablets out to have and then walked away leaving them on the bench to go have a shower. It's bad enough when he forgets to have them full stop, but to leave them out where DS2 can reach them . It's a thin line between making DH see how things are, and upsetting him and making him feel he's nothing but a problem :(.

DS2's eye looks no better :(:(:( Xx

  • Poor DS2 Lucky and  to the tablets. I am ridiculous about my tablets. I have a box, open, where Jelly could effectively get to them at any point should she take the desire. But I am so strict that she calls them 'mummys tablets' and the only time she has ever picked up one of the packets is when she takes the notion to hand it to me chuntering to herself 'They're mummys tablets, you can't have those!' which can be quite comical. I've spent 18 months taking them in front of her and so she knows that they are mine and she can't have them... I would never ever ever tempt fate by leaving the actual pills out on a counter anywhere.. she has no idea what they look like once they are out of the packet and would happily eat them! We all know DH would have been distraught if anything happened to DS2 but it is that dip in memory that is really dangerous bless him.

His behaviour does seem highly irrational when put like that. I do feel for you with the crazy balancing act you have keeping everything going and DH on an even keel. Hugs sunshine :) xx

Nikki what an inspiring story. I hope your seizures have stopped now. Well done on all that you have managed to go through and come out of the other side so well :D

  • Thank you both. Took DS2 back to A&E to have his eye looked at again. Saw a different paediatrician to yesterday, but the same one we saw when he had the temperature related episode last week. She remembered us and our situation bless her. Anyway, she thinks DS2 has an eyelid infection and probably another cyst :(, but she didn't think IV antibiotics were necessary. We have to keep going with the oral antibiotics but go back if it gets any worse. Once the redness of the infection has gone, we can have the lump assessed if it is still there.

DH was obviously trying in the hospital and full credit to him for that, however, (for my own information) he has had 3 angry outbursts since we left. Just wanted to note that to see if it gets any worse.

Amidst all this caring for everyone, PLEASE find time one evening to do something selfish for you.

How you don't burn out and just run for the hills is a mystery to me. You are amazing.
