Feeling a bit panicky tonight and wish I could shake it off. I have a new understanding about DH and his 'waves of fear'. Not really sure what is going on in my head but wish it would stop. Xx

Sounds like anxiety, and I've been in awe that you have coped so well for so long without those dreadful panicky feelings. They're a sign that you need some respite. Please talk to your GP and the Carers Association to put something in place. You need to remember that you are central to the wellbeing of your family unit, and so it's crucial that you take care of you.

I sneaked out to a prayer meeting this evening, and felt guilty for not tell mum where I was going, because I wanted some "me" time. Does that lie by omission negate the benefits of the prayers?

I imagine you are just exhausted after the exciting but manic weekend you've had.

Good luck with the assessment. Glad your boy enjoyed our boys' special day x

I hope the boiler assessment is successful. My neighbour has had het new free boiler for just over a month and she has a warm house and her oil consumption has gone right down.

Waves of fear, panicky feelings are horrible. I hope you are feeling better today.

interesting you mention me being down, I am wondering if I need a check up about it. glad ds2 had such a great weekend!
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Hey Lucky :hello:

I know all about panicky feelings and panic attacks. I find the best way to deal with them is to make plans of what you are going to do, if the things that are worrying you actually happen. Otherwise, occupy yourself with other things, like reading diaries on here :)

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • Fingers crossed for the assessment Lucky. Is it with an energy provider? NP0wer did mine, and I am in a first floor flat, which needed scaffolding coming up from the basement level... the assessor chap that came to check eligibility was great, just took photos of my docs with an iPad, then checked the layout of the place etc. Then it was a couple of weeks wait for someone else to come and assess the boiler itself. They say if it is older than 10 years old, or has really awful efficiency levels, it gets replaced. Mine was actually not 10 years old but because the make was brought out 11 years ago the guy who came to do the assessment just bodged it for the form ;) - in the end for their 'carbon savings' to add up, my landlord had to pay £68.71 to get it all done. For a £2.5k quote! And it gave him a years worth of boiler service which he normally paid more than that for anyway ;) very happy chap!

Hope you get control over the panic. Lots been going on recently... xx

  • Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your input. I feel better but not 100% today and will keep an eye on myself if that makes sense. Thinking about it from a subjective point of view, I've had a manic week. DH's seizures are never 'nice', but I was particularly unnerved by this recent one because of the irregular breathing and the rescue meds not working. I think it suddenly dawned on me how dangerous seizures can be and how helpless my role can be, however in control I thought I was. I'm also worried about the side effects of this new medication which DH starts tonight, not least because he had a bit of an argument with a driver yesterday before he even starts on it (not sure who was right or wrong because I was looking the other way, but DH felt we got to the zebra crossing first as pedestrians but the driver kept going, so DH shouted at him and he stopped to argue through his window :(). This made me feel very negative on what was supposed to be a happy day (DS2's birthday). DH also had a bit of a huff because he wanted a £13 beanie hat and I said he had to spend his Christmas money if he wanted it, which he didn't want to do. His Mum bought him £60 trainers the day before as an extra too. I've had to loan my Christmas money to the household so no trainers for me yet. I just wanted him to appreciate how well he does while I continuously go without but somehow I was the one who ended up feeling rubbish.

DWP wanting my payslips is also playing on my mind. I can't find 2 of the last 5 which is really annoying as I'm meticulous about keeping them, knowing they will be requested. It's taken me 3 days to try to arrange copies from work and I still don't have them . Need to go back tomorrow as well because the girl who was in today wasn't sure what she was doing. I just want them sent off, hate having things hanging around.

DS2 cried on the way into school today. Think he just wanted to stay home and play with his new things, but it's strange how he seems down when I do. Maybe I don't hide things as well as I think!

It's Np0wer doing mine too, not that I'm with them, but they are the only ones who deal with back boilers in my area. The boiler was already in and old when we moved in 14 years ago so fingers crossed!

What we really need is new windows though!!Xx

  • You can get all manner of stuff through them so just let them do the assessment and see how it goes. They really are very good but if, after the assessment, you haven't heard anything in the timescale, call them. I called and found out that they wanted to ask for the £68 but hadn't sent a letter or called me about it, so I had to proactively say are you kidding me, of course I still want it done...! Hope your assessments go well. :)

As for making DH pay for things he wants with his Christmas money, reading it, it almost sounds like you're talking to DS1. I wonder if hubby realises how childish he can behave when he doesn't get his own way. I know his mum means well as well, but treating him all the time just reinforces the childish, I want it, so you get it for me. You are doing so well not to A: throw your own toys out of the pram (as I would!) and B: make him realise that there isn't an endless budget for the things that we *want*

Big hugs to you. Been to clubbercise? That always picks you up a bit... :) xxx

  • Cheers Lilt, I thought that about DH. MiL helps us out massively by doing things like that for DH and DS1, because ultimately it means I don't have to budget for or buy the items, however it does me no favours on the other hand as it makes my 'no' null and void. I bought myself a bra today to make me feel better for £6, and I'm not taking it out of my Christmas money so there!! Now who's childish :rotfl: Sick of my other bra half strangling me when the wire pops out every 5 minutes, it's been really painful and I think £6 is worth being pain free!

Didn't go to clubbercise yesterday with it being DS2's birthday and class is fully booked Thursday so will miss this week completely. I'm booked in for next Mon though, all being well. DH has been swimming today with paramedic mate so I had a little 'me' time (if you can call a wild goose chase for a non printed payslip and a trip to the pharmacy for DH's new meds 'me time'!!)

Thanks for the heads up re boiler etc Xx
