Sending you hugs Lucky. Re the banking - everyone makes mistakes, you can't be perfect all the time. I'm sure they'll refund your charges. I once forgot to pay off a credit card that only had about £10 on it. I genuinely overlooked the date it had to be paid and they charged me £25 for it. I couldn't really argue as it was my fault. So I closed the card and they sent me a bill for 7p interest which was a nightmare to try and pay off as my bank wouldn't let me transfer amounts under £1 and it would've cost me more for a stamp to post a cheque. I ended up physically going into a bank that accepted the card's payments with 7p. It made the cashier smile though.

Hope you've had a good night's sleep and feel better today. Don't worry you can always let off steam on here and we'll all "listen".

  • Don't worry, sometimes when we are feeling low it makes everything seem so negative. I also think after all the stresses of Christmas and the pressures of new starts and all the things you want to do in the new year affects your mood.

I feel like I am waiting for January to start.. Actually if I am honest my year won't start until February is here and I am out of my current job. It really does feel like my life is on HOLD.

We'll get through it all though and we will keep each other going. I hope you can give me lots of weight loss tips as that is one of my big goals this year :)

    Keep Smiling, lovely lady.

    October xx

    Good morning Lucky, :hello:

It's a weird time in between Xmas and New Year, isn't it? Everyone is supposed to be happy, but we cannot help thinking of loved ones who couldn't join in this year..
Wish I had a comfortable remedy for this feeling, but I don't; reckon it's just part of being human.

Your God-Daughter's anniversary is going to be tough. I was thinking about her Mum on Christmas Day, trying to send supportive vibes to a woman who has no idea I even exist - yes it's a bit mad..
If Mum decides to do something - maybe campaign for better info, or set up a fund in God-Daughter's name - please let us know. It may help Mum to ensure her child is not forgotten by the world, and if so, I for one would like to contribute somehow.

On another tack; does your DH drink diet coke (or any fizzy soft drink)?
If the answer is: "Yes, lots - because he doesn't drink alcohol"; then please may I humbly suggest that you read up about the side-effects of aspartame.
Woke up in the middle of the night and made a note to ask you this, Lucky!

    And here's a dodgy :grouphug:
  • Oh hun,

I am sorry I dashed off last night - I suddenly felt really really sick so decided to call it a night.

We have all done it with the banking charges. I spent 3 months waiting for a £1 a day charge for 10 days I was in my OD on an account I rarely use and screwed up on... they never appeared. Gutted that your DD was returned. I am sure that you will be able to get the money back from the bank. Have you called and paid the returned DD bill?

Robin is right, we all think of those loved and lost at this time of year. I don't watch the soaps precisely because of the storylines hitting a bit close to home so many times now in their hope to shock and draw people in. Kind of backfiring a bit..

Lots to take in at the end of a hard year flower, be careful with yourself and try to come down off your red alert status a bit... fingers crossed for you getting through New Year ok with DH :)

    Lots of love xx

    Dearest Lucky

I think when we start this journey we want to do the best things always and we forget humans are fallible and not perfect. What done is done - please don't beat your self ups and I would like to thank you as I need to transfer money into an account before a subscription is deducted on the 1st. By sharing I bet I'm not the only one you have helped.

Dealing with loss is so hard, I remember the first couple of years after my mum died, the emptiness came in waves and also the understanding that we are not immortal, especially hard when loss is some one young - I'm sure your friend appreciated you just being there and not shying away from talking about your God daughter

Lastly I stopped watching Corrie, when on Christmas Day the storyline was Sally and breast cancer, ( I was watching with my Dad and my Mum died of BC ) I sometimes wonder whether in trying to reflect real life, the writers loose perspective of the impact these storylines have on those who are left behind or in that journey when they time them at Christmas when loss is often so much harder to deal with as the rituals are focused so much on family and loved ones whether you have a faith or not.

My suggestion to you is acknowledge what you are feeling focus on the next 15 minutes doing something positive and the waves will become gentler

Sending love and hugs Mrs BM

The last three xmas's have been extremely stressful for me so much so that I am hoping to go away next year. First xmas my dad was mugged and ended up with a broken leg in hospital, sadly he passed away last year had to deal with the first xmas without him and the sale of his house and this year DS and GF split up, one minute they where planning a wedding the next minute it was all over. They say things go in three's so hopefully next xmas it will be a cracker.

In a dream world everybody has a fantastic xmas, get on well with each other and come out the other end smiling, reality is so much different. Take care and take many deep breaths.x

  • Thanks once again everyone for picking me up and dusting me off, your posts all mean so much to me. I'm rushing out the door to chub club (:() so will post properly again later, but just wanted to swing by and update.

Yes, there was a charge at the bank, of £10, which was actually better than I thought it would be (used to be £32 when I worked there ). The lovely girl on the phone refunded it anyway as a goodwill gesture :j.
I then called Utility company as they were the non-recievers of the direct debit. They said they would not be retrying the D/D so I could make a debit card payment if I wished, but the fact I'm £83 in credit means I don't have to and there would be no charges with them either. Forgive me, but I don't actually believe them so I will wait it out a few days and see what happens!! If they are right I shall make a smaller payment to them and pay the rest off the credit card I am trying to clear.

More to update but will have to do it later. Quickly though, Robin, DH does drink *some* fizzy pop but his preference is usually coffee or water. He doesn't drink alcohol at all Xx

  • PLMBL I have been the same recently as you know. Down and everything has been a drama. When you are down already it is harder to just brush the drama off and it takes on arms and legs. One of my January goals is to pick myself up and try and eliminate drama from my life lol................wonder how that will pan out.
