Should People move to other available seats if disabled seats are required on trains

I haven't missed that....
My whole point was that you decide who you think should be allowed to sit in that seat. Disability is not always obvious at first look. The whole awkwardness of about whether or not someone needs to have the disabled seat can be resolved by not sitting their in the first place.
If you are happy to move to a normal seat just start off in one!
Its not rocket science.
From what has been posted they aren't "disabled seats" (the ones on the bus) but flip down seats which allow room for a wheelchair or buggies.
If they are the type that I think then no right minded person would use one except for very short hops. Anyone who is disabled and not in a wheel chair would be much more comfortable and probably more secure in the normal seats.

You didn't look very well, the guys son is only around 5 years old so can't be the 9 year old in the story. It obviously a subject close to him and he probably chose to automatically assume that the story was true so posted it on for others to see.
It still doesn't make it true, the photo just shows two women sat on a train, I could go and take a similar photo now and write a story to go with it, it wouldn't make my story true.
BUT the two people in the photo are sitting in Disabled labeled areas if you zoom in on photo. There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -
There's no way of policing it, imo.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Maybe one of the two women was also disabled, and needed to be in those seats? I find the story hard to believe, I know some people are just nasty and thoughtless, but I can't imagine two respectable looking women being that obnoxious in front of a large crowd of people. I'm sure there's more to this story than the facebook post would have us believe, and even if it was true I think it was very petty of the person who took the photo to post it online and start a witchhunt.0

I'll start off in the seat I choose to sit in, the one that I've paid a fare to use.
I'll move to another seat when I choose to, not when you think it appropriate.
It's very rare that I do have to move seats so why should I start off in a different one?
My point (which you still seem to have missed) is that I'll move very quickly when necessary, without needing to be asked.
Compared to a lot of people who travel on my local buses, I'm very considerate about where I sit.
Quite often, I move for someone elderly and a younger person decides to take the seat I've vacated.
It sounds to me like you don't travel on buses very often - if at all.
I do not need you to act as my conscience. :rotfl:
Maybe Richard Branson would appreciate your advice. Its not rocket science.0 -

Something like this,
Exactly like that, Richard.
And I do only use them for very short hops, up to the local village shops. Probably less than a mile.
And JReacher1 says he's not missed the point. :rotfl:0 -
Can we all get back to the original thread please If there is a genuine disabled person requiring disabled seats on the train ( Should able bodied people move ? ) AND how can we police this in the future
I have already answered your question.
How can we police this?
Seriously?
It sounds to me like you're talking about vigilante justice.
Get the train inspector to 'police' it.
And if he won't, then escalate it - to his managers and to Disability charities/commissions.
If I had been on that train and had heard the 2 woman being asked to move and refusing, I would have asked if they had a greater claim to the seats than someone who is disabled.
If they were just being rude by not moving, I would have gone to find the inspector myself.
What I wouldn't have done is take photos of 2 women and publish it on Facebook and incite people to share the photo to 'name and shame them' and refer to them as 'scum'.0 -

You get the bus for a journey of less than a mile?
I can see why you go for the seat by the door and don't walk down the bus to a proper seat. That would involve a bit of physical activity0 -

Oooooh, you don't like being proved wrong, do you, JReacher1. :rotfl:
All this simply because I said I couldn't see what you thought you saw in a photo. :rotfl:
FYI, I get the bus when it suits me and walk when it suits me.
I get plenty of exercise but I appreciate your concern. :rotfl:
And - as the OP says, why don't you get back to the original thread .....?0
