If there is a genuine disabled person requiring disabled seats on the train ( Should able bodied people move ? )
Not making comment on whether this picture is true or not, but on the general question asked.
Yes of course they should.0 -
You really need to learn to read posts before jumping in with both feet.
There isn't a 'disabled test', you silly man. :rotfl:
It's not a disabled space, it's a space for a wheelchair user if required or for buggies if not required by a wheelchair user.
That means wheelchair users get first dibs on that space, then people with buggies then anyone else.
Although I'm sure you'll refuse to believe it, there are very few wheelchair users that use the buses I catch.
You obviously didn't spot the bit about buggies.
I move for buggies, I move for people older than me, although they don't seem to like those seats as they are 'pull down'.
I prefer those seats as I generally shop with a trolley so it's handy for me if nobody else requires it.
Get it?
if nobody else requires it!
There is nothing on the sign on the bus that says 'this seat cannot be used by anyone who is not in a wheelchair'.
If it did say that, I wouldn't sit in it.
I assure you (although you'll probably refuse to believe it) that if there is someone waiting to get on the bus with a wheelchair, with a buggy or is older than me, I'll be further down the bus before they even get on, leaving those seats free.
But it's you that decides whether or not anyone else requires the seat. If someone younger than you got on the bus and wasn't obviously disabled you wouldn't give them the seat. They might be too shy to ask for you to give it to them and are forced to sit on a normal seat because of you and your trolley.
It may be more convenient for you but that's not the point of these seats.....0 -
It's balance of probability. It's unlikely that a photo would be taken of two people in a disabled seat who were about to move and then a fake thread set up about them.
It's certainly more evidence than the usual tripe you get on here.
Based on your reasoning, the story that prompted this prosecution would also be true. That included a picture of the offending people too - except that both the story and the picture were false.

Not really.....
The photo in this post is linked to a facebook profile which is unsecured so you can see previous posts and photos. Therefore you can judge whether or not it is likely they are lying in the original photo.
Of course the whole profile could be an elaborate ruse which has been going on for years just to provide validation to this thread. However it seems to me that is very unlikely....0 -

The linked story was first posted on a well known and long established blog site, so no different to Andrew Gibney's Facebook page. Plus there is nothing to say that he was directly involved in the alleged incident - the picture has been posted/ tweeted many times, with no verification as to its owner.
Now explain again why this story is genuine just because it is on FB and has a picture? Because everything we read on FB is true, isn't it? :T0 -

No I didn't say that because its on facebook it had to be true......
I said you can read the persons profile and it seems quite clear that this Andrew Gibney has a young disabled son who fits the criteria of the original story. In addition you can see his previous posts which don't strike me as being "fake". In fact this post seems out of character for him so on that basis it strikes me as probably being true.
still you obviously haven't taken the time to look at his profile and have ignorantly decided it must be a lie! Good on you0 -
It's not always possible to pre book seats on a train. And I have pre booked a seat, they always seem to shove me right at the back of the train, despite being a disabled railcard holder...Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

In which he also thanks his mates for suggesting people be slapped. Nice!
No one knows the truth because we were not on the train. Anyone suggesting they are more right than anyone else on this does not understand that.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -

I've looked at his profile and decided there is not enough information to decide if the story is true or not - there is certainly nothing to directly relate him to the story.
Clearly some of us are less gullible than others0 -

I think you're missing the point.
These seats are pull-down seats and as such are not the choice of most people.
They are pull-down seats to allow space for (1) wheelchairs or (2) buggies.
In fact, many times I've vacated these seats to allow someone older/more infirm than I to have them and they've actually chosen the seats behind which aren't drop-down.
Most of the times I travel on buses, those seats (there are 4, 2 on either side) are totally unused.
If I'm sat in one seat and a couple get on and sit in the 2 opposite the aisle, I will move so that anyone else can have the seats should they wish to.
You appear to have missed the fact that several posts ago, I mentioned that I always keep an eye on who is getting on the bus at the next stop and will move before being asked
But why am I not surprised that you've missed that.0
