Such a lovely weekend and I enjoyed every minute of it! We did a BBQ instead of a roast yesterday because the weather was so glorious.
We have friends (my best friend and her partner who DH is very close with) living with us for three weeks in between houses, which has really added to a lovely weekend. Also a very nice touch has been my bestie helping with cooking, cleaning and washing! I said this weekend I understand why in different cultures the families live together with extended family and help each other out. It's so much more fun sharing all the boring jobs. I will miss them when they're gone.
In money saving... We did very well with spending. We did a cheap food shop under budget in lidl but had to buy two pillows in town after the filling started to come out of ours. Dried bits on the line for the first time this year!

I stayed with 2 friends during a house move once and it worked swimmingly. They were sad yo see us go! It was only about a month though, maybe long term you'd get on each other's nerves!
My OH is a really tidy person and they loved that he did the cleaning etc and he liked doing it to say thanks. It was actually a really nice time and I'm really grateful to them :-)
Well done on your money saving too, I'm treading water currently!0 -
Ourcornercottage treading water is no bad thing I think as long as you don't go backwards
This week I've added £500 to the extension fund so we are over £4k! Paid the minimum off the final CC. We decided to stop paying lots off the CC each week (we were paying £100 a week between the two CCs, now one for a little while) and focus on the extension once that's saved for we can rearrange priorities.
We now have enough money to start the extension but have decided to hold off until our friends move out we feel it may cause some unnecessary stress with building work and part of the bathroom being out of service at times. I can't wait!!

It seems a slow week this week. Had a lovely weekend. Worked the Saturday and had a BBQ with friends on the Sunday. All meat from lidl so nice and cheap but very tasty and lots spare so that was frozen for the next one.
Money is tight this week so enjoying the sunshine and my gym membership and not buying a single thing. (She says confidently!)

Updated the signature yesterday. Had builders over for quotes on the extension. Now just to wait for the prices. We are still planning to start after our friends move house. DH is on nights so I'm quite pleased I have friends staying, it's good company.

We've had a builder come aback with a quote for extension and another coming soon so now its starting to feel real. The quote we have so far is very reasonable so I can't see how the other person could undercut that. They are both recommended and both can start in June (a little longer than hoped but its our own fault).
Our friends are moving out tomorrow which I am quite sad about. I shall miss the company when DH is on nights, which is a lot when the company he works for is growing at the rate it currently is.
I have formally requested to reduce my hours from 37.5 to 30 hours which will start from the next rota (August!). My manager has said yes but we're waiting on authorisation from Matron. I can't see why she would say no. I think this will help the family situation by reducing stress (She hopes).
