At home buffet sounds amazing! M&S meal deal was delicious, DH is out now and very full. He went off for a nap this afternoon to prepare for his night shift and as soon as he went upstairs I fell asleep on the sofa so we really should have just had a nap together:rotfl: Now I'm going to start working through the lovely chocolates we now how.

Still waiting on the small tax refund for uniform and professional subscriptions, HMRC inform me it will probably be processed in March due to busy time of year.
DH worked nights last week which is double time so looking forward to his pay which I think will show up not this Friday but next. Actually I get confused I never remember when it will show up and it's always a nice surprise! That should get us back on track with extension fund.
Dentist today for crown fitting which will conclude my expensive root cancel treatment. So annoyed with myself I thought brushing and flossing alone was enough to not need the dentist from the age of 18 when left home for uni until now (10 years later). Needless to say I was wrong but once this tooth is finished I am going to the dentist every 6 months to make sure there will be no more root canal issue forming!
Plans for the day:
As mentioned dentist
Meet friend for lunch
Go to butchers to get meat for batch cooking
Batch cook (cottage pies and meatballs I think today)
Crash out on sofa!

That was my thinking. They talked about pulling the tooth but I couldn't bring myself to be toothless no matter how far back it was in my mouth.
On that subject some good/bad news... They had to retake casts for the crown so need to wait another two weeks the final fitting (bad because I had to wait another fortnight, good because the remaining £200 odd also waits another fortnight!)

Just bought some beautiful ready made curtains, as buying all the bits for this specific pattern I wanted was getting costly. I ordered deliberately too long so I can have plenty of spare material to make other bedroom accessories with it. I'm thinking this is money saving genius. I will however keep you updated as to whether it plays out like this!
In other third bedroom news we have decided against a decorator and are doing it ourselves starting from this weekend. The last bedroom wasn't hugely successful but maybe practice makes slightly more acceptable?!

Nothing big to report. Excitedly awaiting DH payday tomorrow (I love Fridays). He tells me this week he will get all the overtime and double pay for all the nights. Next Friday is the double whammy my monthly plus DH weekly and he has been on nights again so another good one!
In none money saving news I have bought a picture and light shade for bedroom 2 and when they are up it's all complete. For bedroom 3 just awaiting the curtains which should arrive next week. We are going to start sanding skirting boards on Saturday.
Plan for today:
List some larger items on gumtree
Meet with friends for coffee
Tidy house (I don't know who keeps messing it up!)

Not a great day DH van got clamped for not having tax. I'm so annoyed because we thought it had tax because it had a disc until 07/2015 so we rang up to dispute it but because it was bought after 10/2014 the seller got a refund and the buyer (us) should have bought more tax. I want to be annoyed with DH but I didn't know any better either so we forked out to get the clamp off. Still somehow feel like we can complain but we were in the wrong.

That's really annoying but how is he to know. I wouldn't. The seller should have told him.
At least you didn't have an accident or anything as your insurance would be invalid. Look on the bright side.
Sounds like you need a meeting with friends for coffee to cheer you up! Lucky you've got it planned :-)0 -
Exactly and it would be scarier if the police had pulled him over. Coffee was a nice treat this afternoon and like you say Ourcornercottage good timing! I've decided this unexpected expense was the universe reminding me we are meant to be saving! New plan...less spending on eBay, more selling on eBay! Must try, must try! :rotfl:

Much better day today and it not even midday. DH got paid double his basic week today so topped up both our current account buffers and put £800 I in the extension fund so we are finally over the £2k hump with £2298. I hope to be over £3k next week.
I also got my uniform and subscription refund I am due £246 and £34. The big cheque arrived today the small one hopefully next week!
House update... The light shade has arrived and matches my curtains perfectly!
