I do my eBaying in a similar way.

I tend to do a bit of photography, then prepare a couple of listings a day, then make them live at a time that suits, often a Sunday when there's a free listing weekend.

Me too - have a mass photo session, then a massive write up and the actual posting on the site seems quite quick :D.

  • Had a not very MSE night last night. Enjoyed a girlie night - two course meal and lots of wine with two friends. Much needed, life is getting very stressful with work and with TTC which has now been dragging on for more than a year. I'm seriously thinking of reducing my hours at work which may help the TTC situation because I would be less stressed. However doing that would mean when I do conceive my mat pay would be less. It's very frustrating because if I knew I would conceive in the next few months I would stick it out. But if not I would reduce stress, simplify life and do everything that I can to help my situation.

Anyway in the meantime I will get back on the MFW wagon and do more preparation for the car boot:
-I need to get change from the bank.
    -Find more items to sell
    -Label items
    -Pack car up

  • Hi CT maybe set yourself a date to reduce your hours if nothing changes, I often do this to make my mind up. If I haven't done A by a certain date I will do B.

In my last job before I was self employed I set myself a date, if I wasn't happy in my job by a certain date I would sell my house and use the proceeds to travel the world. I don't regret that trip for one minute!
  • Thank you Ourcornercottage I think I will. If I'm not pregnant by June I will reduce my hours. I've been thinking this for months now so in June I will turn 29 and also have been trying for 18 months.

That's a lovely suprise! I hear lots of story like this when people have given up. I mentioned adoption to DH the other day. I know this is early days but just wanted to know his feelings on the subject however he is not ready to discuss it yet. In my area they will not investigate until you have been trying more than 2 1/2 years. So I wanted to weigh up other options.

Discussed with DH reducing hours in June and he is happy, infact suggested doing it now but I, not ready for that I plan to clear CC and DH bike loan first.

  • Sounds like you are on track, from experience I'd say don't put your life on hold for this to happen as it causes you more pressure. I too have heard so many stories that as soon as people accept its not going to happen it does!

Maybe go hell for leather at all debts (I always like yo think of mortgage as just another debt) for 6 months, really push yourself to the max with OP's or savings whichever you are most comfortable with then that will make you happier to drop hours in June as you have kind of prepaid your OP's!

Went to the car boot this morning, got up at 6am on a day off may I add! I made £55 but after I paid my half of the pitch fee, bought a bacon sarnie and ingredients for a roast I had £45 left so I will bank that tomorrow and add it to the extension fund.

In other news I sold an item on eBay so another £15 towards the cause and listed 11 items which will end next Sunday.

Now watching a few episodes of Sons of Anarchy with the hubby then off to bed for a much needed early night. Looking forward to tomorrow as always when I can see how the OP has affect the big bad mortgage!

Ps. Ourcornercottage we are going with that idea and spending the next few months focusing on the extension, debt and emergency fund. Then I will reduce my hours in June. I am going to have to really pull up my socks with the money making to achieve it!
