Hi Creamtea, the positive feeling is great isn't it. I felt that way when we cleared our OD after a tough financial year. Not sure of your role but on that rebate you can also claim for professional payments and union subscriptions. If you are going back a few years you should get a nice rebate!

Am definitely another fan of batch cooking here, it would pain me to spend £5 on my lunch everyday for example. Are you tracking your mortgage OP's on a spreadsheet - that is really motivating when you see the months being knocked off!

What a great start to the year, really good news. I really believe in the power of positivity, onward and upwards.
  • I need to do a spread sheet I keep putting it off because I don't know how to go about it. That will be my job for the week. I claimed my subscriptions with my uniform for the last two years, just awaiting the cheque!

I'm a big believer in positive thinking and I don't know if anyone has read it but 'The Secret'. Definitely worth looking up if you haven't, it changes your view.

Jodles I'm in the NHS but becoming increasingly tempted by private sector with a few things happening at the moment.

  • Two items sold on eBay. Will know what profit we will make exactly once I get to the post office tomorrow. 5 more items posted on eBay. I am aiming to do 5 every Sunday. It's a nice manageable number, more obviously if I come over all motivated!

  • £55 profit from eBay this week. I must keep this up. This has paid for lunch with a friend and £40 for the extension fund.

DH has finally got on board with the money plan and is leaving cards at home plan and bringing in lunches to work. He has even started suggesting ways we can save money. The envelope plan never took off, but I don't mind that was just to try to reduce DH unplanned over draft fees each month which leaving the cards at home seems to have cured.

Balance transfer for CC completed last week so rang up and cancelled pricey CC and then enjoyed the ceremonial cutting up of said card. Sadly I still have the debt just on a 0%card but it feel like a little achievement.

Great bay of e sales. Great too that DH on board, with both of you moneysaving your mortgage will soon come down.

Another eBay sale and £9.50 towards the cause. I'm focusing all my extra cash on the extension and emergency fund throughout the month and only making regular payment to 0% CC because that is not the pressure we have until 2016 to pay that. We hope to start small extension in March so time is ticking. We know we won't have all the money but enough to start is the plan.

I'm always calculating our money it keeps me in a good mood because I feel incontrol and also it's always ok. DH on the other hand would rather have teeth pulled. Today's calc. of the day is that we are less than 4.5% of the way through the year and by that we are ahead of schedule in most areas. Just the extension which we want starting by the end of March now. I would like to be at least 1/3 of the way through by the end of January. That means we need £1060.39 in 15 days. Approx £500 is realistic so the rest will have to be from eBay and other means!
    Just off to plot!
