What a good day!(just make sure you actually do the tax rebate form

GG funny you pop by today. I was just asking for help on the savings board with this issue. I am not quite sure how to go forward. I feel we are making good progress with the mortgage overpayments and have transferred all CC debt to 0% CC so that will be cleared in the next few months. Now what to work on?
You mention s&s where do you go about working out where to get them from or which are best?
I read somewhere a little while ago you should OP mortgage, clear debt and save for future all at the same time not to focus on one at a time but I feel quite lost as to what to do or where to invest. So much out there can't see wood for the trees any advice welcome!

For S&S ISA's the cheapest providers are on here:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/investing/sipps/10607824/DIY-pensions-The-cheapest-Sipp-fund-supermarkets.html (scroll down to the bottom of the article). You can do hours/weeks/months of reading on what to invest in but to summarise:
- Determine your attitude for risk - there are questionnaires on line but I can't think of any offhand. Also look for articles on it. How much are you prepared to 'lose' - bearing in mind you're investing for the long term and will lose nothing unless you actually sell!
- Use that thinking to decide whether to put 100% in funds or 80/20 etc.
- Decide what markets you want to invest in - all UK? Europe? US? Emerging Markets? Or cover all with a Global tracker.
- On average, low cost trackers will outperform active fund managers unless you get lucky. Look for Vanguard and Legal and General funds, they are low cost but plenty others are out there.
Simples.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

HMRC contacted and uniform tax rebate organised just awaiting the cheque in the post. They weren't able to tell me how much it will be for. Also changed up another £14.75 in pennies so the Extension fund is now at £217.25. I am not sure why but I feel so in control and excited about 2015. Another small victory. This week we have eaten breakfast at home, made lunch to bring into work and have had a home made dinner. Like I said small victory, it's only Thursday but I think it's a record for us!

Can't sleep, I think it was the three hour involuntary nap after my early shift that did it! Working out my LTV we paid 3.6% in the first two years of our mortgage but at this rate by our third year we will have paid 7% that's basically double the amount in half the time! Thank you interest rates for coming down. We have not increased the amount we pay it's always been about £1200 a month, now the great thing is less of that is going on interest!
My positive realisation for today.

Another day off so more organising. Direct debits set up for the two 0% CC's should both be cleared now by the summer. Sadly debt went up a little over Christmas not helped by the petrol in the diesel car incident and the other car being written off all in the month or so before hand. New total is £3020.
Also made 7 more listings on eBay all set up in drafts ready to post on Sunday (I read on here listing that end on Sundays go for more than others days).
House tidied and food and meal plan for next few days sorted.
Have a lovely weekend all.

Such a great day. DH just got paid £1000for some work he did a while ago and we had almost forgot about. So £500 in the extension fund, £100 in the emergency fund and £500 off DH overdraft so we are making good progress this week!
Not to bore anyone but I feel so positive about 2015, it is all falling in place!
