So pay day came! I've topped up the various accounts and the joint account is ready for all the bills going out on the 1st. I even had £141 spare which has gone to the extension fund. We now have 21.8% we are getting there just DHs pay on Friday then we can see how we have done for month one of being better people!

Set up online banking for the new 0% CC today. Did a little trial payment of £17 which was the minimum payment. Then because I did that I then paid the same off the other CC. I would hate it to be unfair :)
I am looking forward to having the extension fund finished so we can really focus on paying the CCs off.

It just gets better, today I received a letter to say the electric owes us money too! So that is £114 for electric! I've requested a refund which will be in our account by next week more towards the extension.

    Refunds awaiting:
    - gas £172
    - electric £114
    - HMRC approx £60
    - 3 phone company £216

Being on top of things is paying off!

Sounds like things are working really well! Definately well done on chasing things up, I can still be a bit pants there! Have concluded that even with the possible redundancy it will have been worth going private for 6months great pay! Hard to imagine going back though I did always feel the job security in the good old NHS!!

I also cant believe how much you got back from gas thats incredible!

I can't believe it either. This is a bit more than the average bit of luck! It isn't the normal me to be so organised however it is the me I hope to maintain.

I hope the interview goes well later this week, the NHS would love you back. ;)

  • You're doing great, Cream Tea! :T Well done on those energy refunds!

And you've inspired me to whack all the stuff I have languishing about the house up on eBay at last, I'd been avoiding it but had forgotten how nice it is to see all that extra money trickling in, must get to it!

  • Definitely. I'm going to do a check at the weekend and see how much I've sold on eBay in January but over £150 I think at this point. Not bad bit of extra cash.
    Good luck P*M!

    January summary...

    -eBay profit £181.22
-debt repaid £594 (19.7% of goal)
-saved £150 for emergency fund (3.3% of goal) making total £375.50
-saved £1874.54 for extension (31.2% of goal)
-over paid mortgage by £400 (6.7% of goal)

It's been a very productive month. I would like to post a similarly successful summary at the end of February.

    Plans for February

-A friend and I are doing a car boot on Sunday which will generate a bit of cash for February and doing it together to split the cost of the pitch. I will let you know how that goes after. Wish me luck!
-Same said friend and I are planning to have a 'make and create' night soon and try make lots of bits from my left over fabric box to sell on eBay. Possibly bunting and such. I will keep you posted!

  • Well done CT, you are brave doing a car boot at this time of year! Brrrrr! Don't forget your flask and sarnies so you don't spend your profits!

I have a load of stuff to do a boot sale with but am going to wait till the weather warms up. Good idea to do it with someone to share pitch fees.

I'd love to be as successful on eBay as you are but I hate listing things the I really hate posting them! It's such a drag! I also hate taking the photos!

I break up the eBay drama. I start the listing in the week as I think of bits that could go then I continue adding bits to the listing like taking photos or measuring etc as I have chance in the week then I publish it on Sunday (like I said before I read things go for more when they end on a Sunday).

My Dad said today when I told him I'd made over £180 that it was a great thing eBay etc but not sustainable so now I feel that's a challenge and feel I need to maintain that level of selling at least next! (Too competitive for my own good!)

I think you're right I may regret the weather but my friend is moving house so has lots she wants to get rid of ASAP so I committed. I'm hoping it will be a great start to my £180 I need to make to match January lol!
