I have just starting comping and using MSE competitions board.
But.... some competitions are just blatant excuses to make £4.50 a go. Only put in the terms and conditions in tiny writing. They are not competitions at all. Who would do such a thing? It's dishonest.
I couldn't tell you the exact threads because I have entered too many. They are usually the ones to win a voucher for a supermarket and involve MintedMobi.com. and Myoffers
Why do they need your mobile number? I don't want to give it incase they take £4.50 off me several times.
Can the moderator of MSE ban the people who post competitions like this please?

If you are only using MSE then you shouldn't be seeing comps from My Offers and such sites as they are on the spam list.
This is from the Comping Guide
11 Are there any sites, from experience, which are likely to generate lots of spam?
There are a few which have come to our collective attention as sites that, when used for comps, seem to generate lots of unwanted postal, email & phone call attention. These are listed below for your information, however, please do remember that this is only the collective opinion of other MSE Compers & does not necessarily reflect upon the sites themselves.

hi, rereading through your post was just wondering if you
have read through the comping guide regarding spam comps & giving out your phone number,
there's lots of useful info & tips that would help..:)

A competition listed on here is usually fine (if in doubt don't enter until the post has been up a while to give people a chance to spot if it is a dodgy one).
Sometimes a listed comp is OK but there maybe other 3rd party competitions listed on the same site as the competition that would not normally be posted on here -
For example (but other sites do it as well) this ITV page has their competition towards the bottom of the page which is fine but the 18 above it are from a number of sites on the possible spam list including myoffers, getmeaticket, ukprize, swooosh, catalink etc
http://www.itv.com/goodmorningbritain/competitions?oid=1297&type=campaign&origin_type=show&origin_oid=GMB_Lorr0 -
I was just wondering - stupid question maybe - if you enter the magazine daily comps? Some of those have a page of 'offers' that you need to say 'no' to in order to avoid spam. Some of these relate to a mobile phone competition company (think it has a pic of Tom Daley?), with a tick box for these mobile comps that cost money - make sure you're definitely saying you don't want to sign up by ticking the 'not interested' box, rather than the answer to the question.0
