SFD today. Had today off again and spent it cleaning and tidying etc. Also cut the plants down in the front garden, weeded but couldn't cut the grass as it was too wet. Also sorted through the kids clothes and got two bn bags full for the clothes collection. Also insulated a couple of accesses to the attic and put new silicon on the shower door.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Hi all, sorry I've be MIA for a while
Well today I'm extremely grateful I started debt busting last year. Today we found out the majority of our department will be made surplus by the next financial year
I would rather plan to clear under 5k by then instead of what I started out with. Some people will be kept on, but I'm looking for another job now, rather than wait and be realistically be let go (they wish to keep around 6 people-there are approx 38 people).
To be honest, it wasn't a total shock, but do intend to try to clear by debt earlier as I don't know what the future holds financially. A lot of people were crying and in total shock. I always felt the tide was turning, but I would have thought we would have had more warning, but I intend to try to be proactive and try to find something else
Needless to say I had a NSD today and will do so exercise later. In fact, I have not spent since the last time I was on :T
Well take care everyone and keep going:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
Officially debt-free as of today! Down from over £13k in 2011 (made up of loan for house deposit and loan for car). :j Will now be putting extra money that has been used to pay off debt every month towards mortgage over-payments.
Was doing so well today but just about an hour ago I persuaded DH to buy a nice warm hoodie & trousers from Sp*rts D!rect, then found some garden shoes and a ladies basketball top & shorts I loved. Totally unnecessary spendKind of hoping they'll come up to small and I'll have to return.
Oh well. Tomorrow should be better. Have listed a few items on Fleabay as part of my decluttering. One has already been bid on, but all end on Thurs. Fingers crossed!
Well done and Congratulations to you :T :T :T :j :j :j:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
Traveller, I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you are able to find something else soon. What rotten news to get in the run up to Christmas.0

Thanks AllieAs I said, I'm just sooo glad I started clearing my debt! I'll be having a family conference this evening with the children, letting them know, that finances are on complete lock down until I know what's going on so christmas will be a quiet affair and to be blunt whoever hasn't got a present yet-the two older ones, will be given an IOU for when the crisis is over. I'm determined to get through this and come out positive, but I'm aware millions of others are going through this too

Traveller sorry to hear your news. Will you be eligible to a redundancy payout. If you are you can go onto the UkGov website and see what you would be entitled to. Depending on your circumstances it may be more beneficial to wait until the end to ensure your payout.
Due to the number of people being made redundant your company should go through an employee consultation period and this could result in an enhanced redundancy package.
I'm sure with your positive attitude and proactive response to the news you will come through this.

traveller- sorry to hear of your news. Hope you're able to find a new job if necessary- could be the start of something new and great
NSD number 6 for me today. Have sent a letter of complaint to an airline requesting compensation for a flight delayed in Summer by 2 days. Yes, 48 hours stuck in Heathrow instead of at our dream holiday destination! Wonder what success I'll have. Anybody else tried getting compensation from airlines?Letting Go NST #17

I'm a civil servant, so the normal protocol of making you surplus will apply. We are being told very little at the moment, but basically, we'll be given 6 months to find somrthing else an then that's it, worst case scenario.

Traveller you are being so calm and pragmatic about it all. Go you! And yes, well done on starting to shift the debt slready, so you dom't habe to panic.
NSD 6 claimed here, after a day spent indoors with a poorly dd. She seemed to be improving and set to go back tomorrow, then started complaining - loudly - of ear pains. We were fortunate to get a dr appointment and now have antibiotics for if she takes a turn for the worse. However, she loathes the banana flavour they give children, so I reckon she may well suffer rathrr than take them! If she can get through the night with reduced coihing fits, then school may well be on the cards.
Still no decluttering done here - apart from a Primal cheesecake I made - bit I have thought about it...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
