  • I would go in with a bin bag or bags, put all her possessions that are lying around in them, hide them somewhere and say they went out for the dustmen as you assumed it was rubbish as they had been thrown on the floor as rubbish often is.

Put everything else on her bed sheet and cover with the quilt. She will probably just chuck it on the floor but if you do this every day she may well get the message.

It is YOUR house after all.

I went out with a boy once whose mum did this with his sisters clothes, but instead of hiding bin bags, she threw the bags out of the window and into the street. At the time I thought it was madness, but now I know how she feels.
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door
  • I have 3 teenagers and all of them are untidy by my standards. The rule is simple in our home. No wife unless your room is tidy to my standard. The wife is password protected and I change it whenever stuft falls behind. I have found over the years that mess does not just stay behind a door but when it's left it spreads across the home. Messy kids rarely help with cleaning up anywhere else in the house. We are a family so I expect us all to help each other and chip in to make our home welcoming for us all. It's not a show home and we are not well off. I think know by doing this I am teaching my children good life skills.

Your wife is password protected? How does she feel about this?
    (Auto correct strikes again.)
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I have 2 teenagers, I've now decided I will not spend any more of my time cleaning their mess - i'll keep it hygenic but the rest's up to them - I have more important things to be doing............
Dust if you must but wouldn't it be better
to paint a picture or write a letter,
bake a cake, or plant a seed,
ponder the difference between want and need.
Dust if you must but the world's out there
with sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain
this day will not come round again.
Dust if you must but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind
and when you go (and go you must)
you, yourself, will make more dust!!:D
