Time for adult only flights

Just got back from a wonderfully relaxing week in Greece until the flight home. Single mum, probably paying for holiday on her benefits, was accompanied by a 2 year old brat that managed to scream for most of the journey home. It was almost at the stage of 297 passengers willing someone to throw it out the emergency exit, no witnesses, no-one saw a thing !
Why don't airlines offer occasional adult only flights to popular holiday destinations ?
I'd guess that you flew with an airline that didn't have in-flight entertainment. Something to watch is usually enough to keep children entertained and distracted for the flight.0 -
Fact is you CHOSE a public airline, you CHOSE NOT to go 1st Class, you CHOSE NOT to go in a Privately rented Lear jet, you CHOSE to fly with an airline that knowingly accommodates Parents and Children. YOUR choice is YOUR problem. ::DHow pathetic, If all the adults were on one flight the parents with kids would be on the other, net result no difference in revenue to to the airline but a lot more satisfied customers.
Regarding complaing about foreign food, I CHOSE to travel and hence eat abroad, I didn't CHOOSE to sit near a screaming brat for 4 hours.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

This takes me back 28 years when I was alone on a flight to Spain with my 18 month old son. No, I wasn't a single mother. My husband was working and was joining us later in the holiday. My son, to my mortification, screamed for the two hours we were on the plane, and nothing I tried would pacify him. I could have cried, and I did see some sympathetic looks from other passengers, but I really felt for them! So, although I do sometimes feel irritated by a crying child on a flight, I quickly remember my own experience, and try to see it from their point of view. Thank goodness it was a relatively short flight.0

Let me introduce myself. Single parent to two children, working full time. Not screwing any money from anyone.
Now, shove off with your opinions. They stink.
So you are not claiming the Child Benefit of £1770 per annum that you could claim? I'm so pleased. I wish more parents were self reliant, and didn't expect me to contribute to the cost of their children!0 -

Yes, because your parents didn't get child benefit for you did they.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I this the OP 's opening post is the most arrogant I've ever seen, especially regrading single mothers.
A challenge to him/her: when you visit your bank, surgery, dentist, solicitor, your children's school or any shop do you ask the staff if they have children and what is their marital status?
If you did, I think you'd find that there are many single parents in the world of work, earning their own living.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -

No i'm not. Not that it's any business of yours. Or the OP's. You two should get together, you're obviously on the same wavelength.0 -

It wouldn't be any of my business, but you raised it on a public forum.
But I'm genuinely delighted that you don't expect the taxpayer to give you money because you have chosen to have children. We are obviously on the same wavelength!0 -

Single parent as two young men sat either side desperately wanting to be somewhere else. On benefits - never met a single parent yet who hadn't found some way to screw money out of the working population.
No benefit to airline carrying single parent with young child, they add weight but don't pay for a seat. Unfortunately adult only holidays do use same flights as families which is why I made the original comment. With 2 or 3 flights to a destination per week it shouldn't be too hard to make one adult only.
You are either clueless or economical with the truth.
2 year olds have to have their own seat.
I really do not believe you that 297 passengers all felt the same as you about this child.
TBH, listening to the OP muttering and chuntering would have been all the in-flight entertainment I would have needed. :rotfl:ThumbRemote wrote: »I'd guess that you flew with an airline that didn't have in-flight entertainment. I'd have found it pretty amusing to stick up for the Mum (single or not, claiming benefits or not) to wind up the OP.0 -

I honestly don't know whether they did or not, but I'm not responsible for the actions of my parents.0
