Can I blame this thread for the £26 I just spent on 'cheap' wrapping stuff?
I've been so good for so long! Years ago a site had an offer for a ton of rolls of studio Christmas paper for a very small price (can't remember fully but might of been 20 rolls for a few pounds), of course I couldn't just order one set so since then I've been making my way through it (I'm sure there must of been a miles worth if all rolled out end to end) so I've not brought any more for years...until today!
I have no idea if it will work but I brought some faux silk fuchsia curtains (£2.99) and black metallic paper. I'm thinking of cutting the fabric lining out and then making some form of bow from the silk and putting it on plain black gifts. I also got a couple of Christmas fabric runners for £0.40 to use like wrapping paper. Has anyone used fabric like this before? What did you do?
To the poster who is allergic to tape, I treated myself last year (it felt like an extravagance although I think they were only £2) to sticky circles designed for wrapping, they seem more like sticky black plastic than cellotape, I wonder if you would be allergic to them?Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Whilst I am not a wrapaholic it falls my lot to wrap the family presents.
I wonder if like me, you find a glue stick handy as a third finger for holding the wrapping paper in position before you're able to use the Sellotape?
I wrap sitting on the floor and use my feet as well as my hands (not sure what the gift receiver would make of that!)Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Can I join? Ever since I worked in a well known chocolate shop where we were taught to gift wrap items when customers asked, I've been a gift-wrapaholic!
I usually go and get myself some gorgeous paper in the January sales, and buy whole spools of ribbon online so I am prepared!
One of my favourite Christmas pastimes is sitting on the floor with a nice drink:beer:, my trusty mini sellotape dispenser and wrapping away to my hearts delight! :rotfl:
The only issue I've been having in recent years is that I've started to make hampers for people, so although I get a nice basket to cover in cellophane and bows and the like, I do miss having lots of boxes to wrap up all neatly and put under the tree!I'm usually using a phone, so excuse my spelling please!0 -
Jobo - just make pile of lovely wrapped fake gifts for under the tree!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Vikki - your ideas sound lovely - and looks like you had some bargains there.
Not done it myself but I think last year some people were buying those £1 pashminas form Amazon and using them as wrap.
Would be nice to see some pics when you are finished wrapping!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Omg 7roland8, I never though of that! Imagine the look on my OH's face when I rock up with loads of boxes to wrap up and put under the tree!:rotfl:
Now just need to get my hands on some boxes! *rubs hands together with glee*

Yes I would use anything, large teabag boxes, cornflakes, cat food ones with the pouches - I have two huge boxes full in the attic for under the tree! Then every year or so you can 'improve' then with different paper and ribbons - now get going girl!!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Hands, feet, elbowsit's not elegant but it's effective.
Loving this thread, thanks all for humouring me :heartsmil Looking forward to the sales now when I can finally stock back up- not feeling very inspired by the selection in the shops so far this year so I might take your suggestions from here and check out Studio etc

No because I always seem to master buying the most awkward shaped gifts ever!
But if any of you guys live near Warwickshire, I would happily provide, wine, nibbles, christmas chatter & christmas music in exchange for wrapping :rotfl:
