Hi Twiggy thanks for the post on my diary. You are doing really well, love the jumping men in your sig. I've subscribed so hopefully I will get some good tips.

Thanks Tinkerbelle! Not sure you'll pick up any tips - more just me rambling but welcome aboard! One tip I would say that I've learnt is that every penny really does count - nothing is too small amount to pay off a debt (I believe I did once pay off 4p to get me under the next £100 bracket!) and the pennies spent soon add up!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Twiggy - You are spot on in your advice to Tinkerbelle, every penny paid off is a penny we arent paying interest on any more.
I am on a bit of a recruitment drive at the moment, or so I sound, but I am loving the Payment a Day thread, its so inspirational. People on there paying off anything from a few pence to big fat chunks. Come and join in? Im this coming months counter upper." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Thanks Twiggy and Bob. I didn't realise you could just pay off pence on debts. Might be a stupid question but is that ok on credit cards too.

Tinkerbell - No - it is not a stupid question (we don't have those around here!) Yes I do it on credit cards too - however you may need to meet the months minimum payment before you can then pay off pennies - hope that makes sense!
Bob - I tend not to do PAD. As I fix my budget as the beginning of the month and make all payments then. It's only if I get extras (i.e. see below) or my OH gives me extra that I can pay more off, as I run my bank to £0 (well I leave £100 buffer in there but count that as £0!)
Money from COS hit PayPal so used £5 to top up newly depleted EF, £5 towards house renovations and £10.10 off CC!
So my car service came to £110.39 and I only had £50 saved for car maintenance so £60.39 came out the EF - plus I need new pads and discs which cost £60ish but my dad is going to fit them. Hoping I can pay parents back to cost of pads/discs next payday.
However, TM training got a kick start yesterday as I cycled over 14.5 miles!!!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Tinkerbell - you can pay pence yes.
Twiggy - I know what you mean. I have been PAD ING by the same as you and then also things like if I make a good YS saving I skip that money out of my shopping budget straight to PAD. Also do rounding too on my current account balance. But I'm not a YNAB person so I don't have a very fixed budget. And can move things a bit more." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Not checked in for a while but I'm now all caught up. I'm sorry you've had car troubles to contend with, but like Bob says, at least you had an emergency fund in place for it and it didn't create more debt for you.
I've just posted on Misstara's diary with an almost identical post to this, as you and missT seem to be twinnies at the moment, both have friends over from Oz and not really feeling positive this month despite both of you doing really well with keeping on top of things! At least September will be a better month for everyone (fingers crossed). I need to seriously get back on track!0 -
Hi AleMrsT! :hello:
Well I got a scare yesterday as realised yesterday was one month until Tough Mudder! That sprained ankle has really knocked me back so I need to up the ante now! Circuits was hard last night after 5 weeks of no exercise (and achey legs from all that cycling!) But I have promised myself that every day between now and a few days before TM I will do some sort of exercise - even if its just a walk as appreciate you need rest days.
Ok none of that was money related but its my diary and I'll babble if I want to! :rotfl:Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

My second mortgage overpayment has gone out today! So now overpaid the grand total of £200! :rotfl: However, I'm sure it will soon add up and it all helps in the long run!
Bit of a spendy weekend, but not gone over budget, just got no budget left for the rest of the week! Oopps! Didn't really do much either, although did have a lovely lunch with a couple of friends on Saturday inc a friend and her baby who is absolutely gorgeous!
Training wise - I did ParkRun on Saturday (3 miles) and then a 4 mile run Sunday and Monday, plus a fitness DVD for a bit of upper body work! Just about to book another 6 sessions of circuits which will take me up to the week before Tough Mudder. Feeling more positive about it, although I'm nowhere near where near where I wanted to be there's nothing I can do about that, and any small step is a step in the right direction. Also, a friend has a bike in her ex's garage as she lives in a studio flat so nowhere to store it and she'll let me know later if I can use it for a while! That would be great as would allow me to see if I will actually use a bike before spending any money, and will help with my training! Fingers crossed!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
