I'm doing my monthly update today as I won't be at work tomorrow and it's easier to do this on an actual computer!

So my signature as at 16 April was as follows:-

    LBM 16.10.14 - CC - £6,652.68 - now £5,098.26
    OD - £480.52 - now £0 :j Next - £436.48 - now £0 :j
    Beds - £1,667.00 - now £0 :j Parents - £626.96 - now £146.96
    TOTAL - £9,863.64 - now £5,245.22
    £1,000 EF #31 - £110/£1,000 Pay off by xmas 2015 #49 £2,937.70/£5,000

My signature as of today is:-

    LBM 16.10.14 - CC - £6,652.68 - now £4,563.00
    OD - £480.52 - now £0 :j Next - £436.48 - now £0 :j
    Beds - £1,667.00 - now £0 :j Parents - £626.96 - now £66.96
    TOTAL - £9,863.64 - now £4,629.96
    £1,000 EF #31 - £125.04/£1,000 Pay off by xmas 2015 #49 £3,657.96/£5,000
Meaning I've paid £615.26 off my total debts this month which is more than I thought! :j
    That breaks down as:
    Credit card - £535.26
    Parents - £80

Feel like my efforts are slowing up - and are now going to backwards as going to have to borrow money from my parents to pay to have my car repaired. However I do have money in my "pots" for car insurance, home insurance, dental etc etc but I feel like I shouldn't use that as I want to get ahead of the game on those things and it will be interest free. Oh I don't know what to do for the best! But I do know I'm glad I haven't borrowed money from the parents to pay for wardrobes as that would be doubly bad to then borrow more!

But whilst it's slowing up, all of it is interest free and work on the house is progressing!

I do have some money to pay into the bank tomorrow, just not sure what to use it towards yet - I was going to say it comes from my OH so don't feel I should use it towards my car BUT he doesn't have a car so relies on mine too so maybe I will! Just really wanted to make another debt repayment but I guess this will in a way if it means borrowing less of my parents! (Repair cost £320 and I only have £205 but that does wipe out my emergency fund too - think I have £50 to put in the bank meaning I'd only have to borrow £65).

    Ok I'm rambling now! Bye!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00

Thanks Danilee - and well done on reading my rambling!

Weekend was good and not very spendy (which wasn't necessarily a choice as OH didn't get paid!) However I'm disappointed at myself for not getting out for a run - excuse - my music isn't on my new (well not new now!) phone! I need to go to my parents on Wednesday night so will plug my phone into the computer there to get my music off my iTunes account. I've just looked into ParkRun which is a free 5km event near me (and lots of other places) so I'm going to register for that and go on Saturday to get myself back into running!

Yesterday we ripped out the old gas fire - not that we can afford a log burner yet but it was very ugly and didn't work so at least now we've got an idea of the size of log burner we'll need! Dad is fitting the bannister today as well, so it's exciting to see stuff progressing again after stalling recently! Plus dad is a carpenter so he's making all the spindles, bannister etc, so will just be the price of the wood (which he gets through work so cheaper than I would get it). Can't wait to get home and see it (although I don't think he'll finish today)!

One thing I need to remind myself is that whilst my debt is no longer accruing interest, my mortgage is! So need to get that paid off and then start overpaying my mortgage. Feel like the pressure has dropped but I really must keep debt busting!

You're so hard on yourself Twiggy, you are right in that borrowing money off your parents for the car is interest free, it isnt going back a step really if it means you not putting the debt on a credit card that is costing you money. Cars will always cost you money, and you have already got some in the 'pot' towards it.
I'd borrow the full amount of the repair, then still use the money saved for the insurance, as you will still need to 'find' the money for the insurance if you spend it now. You'll pay off the repair money in no time with your current rate (you've paid nearly double that in debt repayments in just one month!!:T)

Good luck on the interview, and good for you on signing up for the ParkRun, at least if you're running, they'll be no more wear and tear on the car :p

The mortgage can be your next focus when the CC is gone, and the rate you're going you'll make a huge dent in it if you are able to keep up the same overpayments as you currently pay for your credit card.

Thanks AleMrsT! I know I'm hard on myself but worry that if I'm not I'll slip back to my old ways!

However it's payday on Friday I've rejigged my spreadsheet and I can pay off the car repairs and allow £200 for my MOT and service meaning provided there's no more issues with my car I won't have to borrow any more money off my parents! It just means I'm paying less off my debts than normal and putting less in my pots than normal, but I am putting £100 aside towards my mums birthday which will pay for the cake and our day out and I've already got the money for her present! However, paying off less debt is better than incurring more debt!

I paid a huge £3.26 off my CC this morning! Which is money from TCB and QuidCo - but every little helps!

I'm getting £50 from the RAC for the way they handled my breakdown! Shows that complaining does actually help and the lady said she'd listened to my initial call (where I was told I wasn't covered) and will be feeding back to the relevant people about the shoddy service I'd received! So that can go towards the car repair/MOT! So pleased I bothered to send in a quick email!

Also plans for mums party are coming together so I'm really excited as she won't expect it (my dad is not normally a surprise/romantic sort of person!) Can't wait to see her face - shame it's 3 weeks away!

So I went to the bank yesterday to pay in some money, sort out why my card hasn't been working and get a new code to log into my online banking. Apparently my card was cancelled back in March (I presume when I paid the beds off but they stopped the payment for fraud - however I then paid it using that card) but apparently they decided not to send me a new card! Annoyingly I can't now log into my online banking until I've got the new card! I need to see what's in there and do a money shuffle! Grrr! Never mind, at least I can't spend it but it does mean that I had to put petrol on my CC and now I can't pay that off until the card is received but (fingers crossed) that should be before the statement is due.

Also annoyingly went to my parents last night but didn't even think to take my cable so that I could connect my phone to the computer to get my music off! I will be going running on Saturday with or without music!

    Payday tomorrow! Woop!

I can't believe how quickly time goes!

So it was payday on Friday - so I paid £100 off my CC. Haven't paid off parents yet as they paid for my car repair - I have all the money but cant access it at the moment as cant get into my online banking! So once that is sorted I will finish paying them what I owe them and for my car repair.

I went and did parkrun on Saturday morning (free 5km run held all over the place). Really enjoyed it actually despite the fact I haven't been running in ages! Plus I beat the target I set for myself (although I was by no means fast!) So I'm feeling like maybe I can actually get fit for tough mudder! However, woke up fine Sunday (no aches or pains) only to then pull a muscle chasing the dog over the field! Starting to feel better already so hopefully be ok for Zumba on Thursday.

Other than that my weekend was very non eventful! Lodgers birthday on Sunday so I made him some cupcakes - pleased I did as don't think he got anything from anyone else other than the card from me and OH and cupcakes. He's having a rough time with family but is off travelling for 3 months end of next month so hoping that will do him good.

Don't think I have anything else exciting to report!

Ok so I decided to clear the original debt with my parents :j!

So I now just owe them for the car repairs which I will do once I can FINALLY log into my online banking again! However not adding this onto my signature so that I get another dancing man! However the car repair was £320 and I have paid £160 for the DJ for my mums surprise birthday party (dad can't or mum will want to know where the money has gone!). So technically I only owe them £160. Plus I've checked my bank this morning and the £50 from the RAC has gone in!

However feel a bit in a mess this month with my money. Can't log into my banking for the account which has the various "pots" in which means I can't check everything is as it should be. Also because my card wouldn't work I put my petrol on my CC and again can't access that account to transfer the money over and pay my CC. And OH didn't get paid until Tuesday which means I had to put some bits on my card although he has now put some money back in my bank which should cover it. But because I don't have my envelope system properly set up this week I'm just feeling that everything is in a mess! I'm sure it's all fine and pretty much correct but normally I know to the penny what I've got!
