    So far we've:

Booked and paid deposit for registrar
Booked and made first two payments for venue
Booked and paid deposit for photographer
Booked and paid deposit for band
Booked and paid deposit for Disney part of honeymoon
    Bought my dress
    Bought my shoes
    Bought invitations
    Decided on OH's suit

I've got a friend of OH's doing my hair and makeup and we're going to set up a trial for April and another friend is making our cake and we're meeting with her in the new year.

The only big things we still need to sort are:

    - Flowers
    - Bridesmaid dress
    - New York part of honeymoon
    - Deciding on food with the venue
    - Wedding night accommodation

I think we're pretty much on top of everything but then again we have been engaged for almost 4 years so we've had a bit of time to sort out what we like and don't like!

Well we've now booked the wedding night accommodation and we met with a florist that I really want to book with so that could be 2 more things crossed off the list by the weekend. We also picked up the wedding rings yesterday and they are perfect, didn't really want to take mine off but at the same time it looked a little strange.

Hope everyone else's plans are coming together!

  • Hey ruby, that's brilliant news we really need to get our rings sorted my oh wants to get them made from the place he got my engagement ring, it will have to be after xmas now.

My good news is that we ordered our cake yesterday, it's stunning, we are so happy with it, decided on 3 tiers chocolate and 1 tier fruit.

I was surprised he managed to get them done before Christmas but he was happy to squeeze us in as we were repeat purchasers. I'm sending my parents to him after Christmas as my dad hasn't worn his wedding ring in 25 years after having it cut off and my mum wants him to be wearing it on my wedding day.

Do you know what type of rings you want?

Oooh the cake sounds really nice! Are you having it decorated with anything or having it 'naked'? Have no idea what we're having but I know who's making it so will sit down with her in the new year for a consultation.

  • We are not really sure at the moment, they will both be Platinum, OH wants brushed Platinum and I'm not sure really, I'd love diamonds but not sure if it will look to much. What did you go with?

The cake is on this site, it's the New England one. We are wanting an autumn theme so the colours are perfect for us.

I've got a bevelled edge platinum band that sits perfectly against my emerald cut trilogy engagement ring. OH went for the same style but in 18ct yellow gold and with a brushed effect where as mine is polished.

That cake looks amazing! We're having an autumn theme too but I can't decide if I want the cake to fit in with the rustic-ness of everything else or if I want it to be quite traditional.

Ooh that looks lovely! I've finally found someone to do our cake- it was the hardest thing I've done so far, both because there were few people making cakes in the area we're getting married, and secondly because a lot of cake makers I contacted had awful communication. I think some had actually gone out of business but hadn't bothered to state it on their website!

We know what rings we want and where we're going to buy them from but not sure of when to get them. I think we could easily leave it until a month before the wedding but I suppose it's best to get it out the way before we're manically busy with other things!
  • I was initially thinking the same as you Fuzzy but again like you thought it would be better to get the rings sorted sooner rather than later.

We were quite fortunate with the cake, I don't know the area we are getting married at all so I just googled it and this was the first to come up. Luckily they look and taste amazing.

The next thing on the list is my dress, I'm going to have to go after Christmas now though, few weeks respite hehe.

Ooh I just booked a dress appointment for January :j Very much looking forward to it! Originally I was going to book it for April but I figure you need to give yourself enough time to try things on and work out what you like.
